Club president's 70th birthday run today with 18 club mates. 11miles / approx 2000ft (guess) climb in the sun
Snuck out early for a pre dawn run, sitting in the lee of the hill watching the sun rise over the Forth.
Six miles up the old PW from Marsden Yesterday. Five miles in the same neck of the woods today. Nice to be getting better and out again.
First post, lurked for ages. Being in Essex, I can't compete with the scenery some of you have, but I did manage 15 mile in the frost & ice this morning over Langdon Hills, my local lumpy bit, with a song in my heart (for comparison Garmin says 2359 ascent, but I take that with a fairly large pinch of salt). Anyway it was a fabulous run and felt I could have run forever this morning.
Chris, (Pitsea Running Club)
Welcome Barthy
So long as your running up and down hills your fine
Is that Pinhaw above Elslack DT? A great run is along the disused railway line (accessed along the lane from Carleton) and then up the Pennine way just before Thornton in Craven. My only problem when I did it is that I lost all my imagination going back to Carleton and just hammered down the road. Did it a couple of times when I lived in Skippo in ye olde days
Yes, that Pin Haw. We have a club run in the summer from the Tempest, plus Brett organises a race up there. We have good friends who live in Carleton and Bob from this here forum doesn't live a million miles away. It's a cracking little hill
What a day. Freezing cold, endless blue sky, blinding sun, icy, frozen paths. 10 miles of pure joy on Ilkley Moors.
Thanks for the welcomes. Working on my own a lot, this forum has been my lunchtime chat for a while now, and must be the best forum I've come across. Cheers.
Cold couple of hours on Bleaklow this afternoon and a half hour headtorcher in the local woods this evening. Quite a contrast in conditions today. Snowy, icy, and very low visibility up on Bleaklow. Cold but clear crisp and leafy in the woods. Saw a couple of runners out on the pennine way, very icy!
Ok week last week, 45miles and 10000ft+
Certainly felt like I had plenty more in the tank, 55 miles this I reckon. Not enough snow for the slow shoes yet.
Six miles up and around the Wessenden Valley. Still plenty of ice in places.
50mins from Burbage North, up to Higger Tor then past the sheep fold to head up to (via an experimental short cut) to Winyards Nick. Well, it all went wrong from there really. Winnie and I did some heather, moss, wood and boulder hopping to get to Toads Mouth rock. Sleet, biting winds and freezing feet made it a good trip out. I'm determined not to be last at Tigger Tor this year ;-). Re-think then it's up there to do it again on Thursday.
A nice (sh) long run over the moors last night.
15 miles of forests, beach and dunes. Chilly out, iced up vehicle tracks in the woods.
Oil painting sky at times which was nice
33min easy recovery run on Touchstone Trail with Winnie. Wet underfoot but not icy. Good run :-)
A brisk 5 miles on the road this morning
Club run in the snow this evening, no idea how far. 4 maybe 5 miles..... possibly, nice steady run out though
Steady 25 minutes on the road in Rostock Germany..
Saturday I was out for 25.5 hrs in the mountains, snow, ice, darkness.. no injuries.. 25 minutes on the road and I've slipped on snow and smashed my face on a kerb knockin out my front tooth... fantastic!
Ouch...
It's cold icy and dark
So hill reps obviously
4120ft worth in 4 reps, snow doesn't help
Ran hard for 75 mins on street O score event at warton- for me a close to perfact run with timing and route choice. erhaps dropped 30 points. Managed not to slip on any icy pavements and did not get lost or confused.
4.5 miles in a super blizzard around the PW above Marsden. V windy. PCDan had a couple of falls and the snow stung our eyes. Sixth run in December. I might try to run everyday, even the 25th.
9 miles last night. No mountains to speak of, but I had to negotiate a couple of nasty mini-roundabouts.
Felt good to be out.
I went for a lunchtime run 7.5m 1300'. The paths and minor road sections to the fells and back were solid ice! The snow melt water had frozen overnight. I ended up trying to run along the narrow grass verges it was the only way to keep going. Once off the ice and into the snow on the fells it was much better going and most of the snow on the paths I ran on was untrodden, just how I like it :D
7.25 miles and 1300ft out on the local
BRING ON THE WEEKEND!!!!
Seven runs in seven days this month so far, including several outings on the road :o
Good half hour up and down in woods tonight at a good pace. Not bad out, crisp and fresh.
Aye saw that on the website, was thinking about heading down.. means I can get a run and be back for Utd City...
Katoolas might be an idea, very icy up there
Went out over Bleaklow then Kinder N Edge this morning - not much ice, but lots of snow (knee to thigh deep in lots of place) - skis would have been better than Mudclaws!
Eighth run in eight days this morning. Hilly 3.5 miler on road before breakfast :closed:
Road for me as well. Undulating 5.5miles, 9th in 8 days. Feel pretty darn good too.
