A very common mistake on the HPM, the run along the edge is quite fast and the miles fly past. if you don't keep a handle on it you miss the split. although this is usually a problem in thick clag not on a clear night. I'll be up there tonight...

I saw you come in and spotted little Harriet. Good to know she is a keen fellrunner and BG supporter. I'm particularly fond of border terriers and currently have 'visiting rights' to a little elderly one who would have made an excellent fellrunning companion had I been into running when she was a youngster. She's now 15 and a bit slower these days but can still chase a stick or two:)
Thanks so much to all the organisers, caterers, marshalls and everyone involved in putting on this year's HPM. I was lucky to be offered a place in the Tiggers Brown Vests last stand team after Ian W had to drop out and we thoroughly enjoyed our run round; a great race in stunning conditions. The whole event seemed to go really smoothly and we really appreciated the work that everyone put into a fantastic night of running.
Jules
Hmmmm.....
Team stolly will be chucking their hats into the ring again, lottery for a place permitting :)
fingers are crossed
If any team is short of a runner, or knows a team who needs a runner. I would be interested in filling a place. Done it twice before. Fastest being 10.35.
Has anybody heard if they are in or not? I thought emails were supposed to be sent out yesterday.
Nope, nowt yet
Fingers crossed.
Not sure what result they're crossed for.
No email yet here either. I'm with you there shauneto - getting in and the nightmare begins :)
I don't know what's worse, knowing or not knowing....
I've just had the email, and we're in. Like you both said it's a mixed blessing! ;)
Bloody 'ell, were in. First run for team Mean Girls:eek:
Bugger didn't make it. "If you have done the event many times before, sorry you were particularly unlucky" :(
Guess that's me on plan b then
We did not get in this year, although done many times previously, still training for the event and looking for place in team if anyone needs one, thanks, simon 07794854532
If anyone fancies some training, or didn't get a place but is desperate for some cold wet night time misery, the Dark Mountains location has just been announced as the Kinder and Bleaklow area

:)
Misery you say......
if anyone needs a team member, give me a shout. happy to make one in, nothing break-neck just pre-noon on Saturday.
ta
I'm also looking for a team with a last minute drop out. I've done this event 4 times now and know it like the back of my hand (cough). 11 to 12 hours suits me fine
I am also looking for a place on a team so get in touch if anyone has a space to fill. I haven't done an HPM before but am halfway through BG training and have done a few 40+ milers
I'm not looking for place...honest... so don't try and recruit me but I am looking to get some miles in my legs with long runs so...
If any one is going out for a recce let me know via PM and if I'm free I'll come out for the company...You might even discover the odd line or two...;)
New post entitled hypothermia just been made by hpm team member who had a interesting day on watershed yesterday. Lesson for all, don't skimp on kit!
My team has just had to pull out of the HPM at the last moment. I was looking forward to it - sort of. Any places available in a not-fast team? Ive never done it before and would be pleased with 11 hours.
Steve one of our team has had to pull out. I've sent you a PM with my contact details.
There's a couple of reliable local lads looking for run if anyone wants to a form scratch team ( they were in Team Edale). See HPM or Dark Peak facebook page
Rainbow worriers have had a man drop out so we need a new team member, realistically we are looking at closer to 11 hrs than 10 this year. Team members are Chris Rainbow, Mark Ruscoe and me.
We are happy with Nav so the only requirement is a willingness to enjoy.
Dave Swift
We now have a full team again.
Not picking on you particularly Dave but just to make the general point that navigation ability is a requirement for everyone of course. Ok if one person takes the lead to find the optimum line (better if backed up by team mates) but everyone should at least be able to find their way to place of safety in case of being split up. :)
