took the old pennine out today. one hour on the back roads around shelf, queensbury and hipperholme. great to get back on the mighty 53 although the knees hurt a little.
the old pennine handles like a dream, she maybe 26 and made of steel but i can't believe a carbon bike handles as good as she does.
as soon as i got home i put on the old trainers and went for a 5 mile run, i did realise that that was a mistake after 2 miles but i was committed. might do it again tomorrow.
It's a cracking island to ride on Daz. A lot of the main roads have a wide tarmc area to the side of the white edge line, there are loads of back roads signed up as quiet lanes and the scenery is stunning. I only did around 230 miles this time (holiday, not training camp) and there was not 1 instance of car/bike aggresion.
And if you want a top meal in a class joint to appease the wife without paying silly money try the Clivia in old Pollensa.
Tour of Britain just bin past our house...loads of police bikes and sirens......very impressed.
Well, I had a go at riding Thursday evening, as it was such a lovely evening... an hour easy in the little ring... bit stiff initially, but it cleared up after a bit of spinning... Vibrations from the road hurt my bruised and cut left arm though and Mr H and I have come to the cnclusion that I may just have fractured the tip of the ulna... ah well, that mathes the right one then... which I fractured by falling on it off my foldup bike once years ago... That would explain the tenderness and swelling!!!
Another little ride later I think, after work and a couple of hours tomorrow, to get back into things...
Well done hanneke
I just did 44miles out to repton, doms territory, crap roads out there, lots of frost damage. Took my picture as is required when you have a new Mercian at the sign for rep ton. Very very very windy and it wasn't a pleasant ride until I turned for home. Only seen two other bikies out today. I too spentba fair time in the 39 ring. Just too windy.
Saw a student kid on a rat-look fixie struggling his way up out of the Aire Valley towards Headingley today. Looked like an old Carlton or a Dawes with the all-important gears ditched, bad idea around Leeds. Today's bike ride- difficult for him!
