Glorious indeed Ian. I did 6 hours in the sun on the Hayfield and Edale side. 7 climbs and about 7000 ft. Ideal final long prep for the Welsh 3000 race.

Wow.. good session..
Stunning day in North Germany.. 6 miles at lunch.. 9 miles this evening, just felt so good.. 1 mile warm up, met 7 friends at our usual boat on the water front, 5 miles at 6:30 pace then snap and a hard last 3 k.. just felt so good ran 3:20, 3;18, 3;18 for the last 3k.. lovely warm night with just enough of a breeze to make it pleasant.
Strange how in the middle of a period of high mileage you suddenly feel fresh.. I've been shattered all week..
16 mile mountain bike ride, bit of tea, then 5 mile run over the moors to The Cow & Calf for a few jars.
Absolutely stunning night tonight.. 23 C.. but a nice breeze, 12.7 miles, started steady and averaged 6:25 pace including 2 easy miles to warm up. The heide is a huge forest, really thick foilage, shit for the GPS but great for the sun cover.. my watch was all over the place but mate had a foot pod on and that was better..
9x downhill reps, 1min down, 2:30min walk up to recover. Glad I went first thing before it got hot out there.
It all became official today.. here's to miles in miles out.. but quality has certainly made that final few % happen..
Was an exercise in dehydration. Phew.
Rehydrating now with Rescue Ale.
must remember not to run at 3pm in hot weather! also not to take a short cut over a field sign posted 'bull in field' this only results in the bull trying to up end you in a none positive way, 9 miles 'a ruff ole day'
A very humid run around the Wharfedale off road half marathon course this morning in 1hr 40minutes
4 trips in to the hills, 2 with Shaunetto
Just don't ask me to break it down but in 48 hours, 12 munros around 45 miles just under 20,000ft and about 20 litres of water....well it felt like it.
Pictures of Kintail ridges
Had a good run today for a couple of hours. Up to the Ox Stones and back to Sheffield. I can't seem to get back into my regular running pattern but today felt good.
You've been busy this week then Ian! How many Munros is that now?
Two runs today, 5.5 miles this morning on trails in the Krkonose mountains, tonight foam roller work and a steady 4.1 miles on trails..
Won the inaugural Chojnik Maraton in Poland, in the Krkonose mountains on Saturday, 2200m ascent, strangely felt great ascending despite living on the flat now, but was attrocious on descents but think I was asking a lot of my adizero's.. legs trashed today..
Am quite pleased with myself for managing to get a 4.5mile run in on Saturday night and a 15 mile run in last night after a full weekend of Open Studios, being on my feet talking constantly each day with no time to eat or escape for the call of nature! A peaceful run round the woods and river last night was bliss! :)
A 4 mile race, on the flat, this evening, starting from a local pub. My legs are still tired from previous runs too. I feel such a softy after reading some of these posts.
steady run at lunch. 5.75 miles, 7;50-:8 min miles or so.. legs battered
usual group run tonight, .5 mile jog there, 12 k at 6:30 pace, normally step up at the last 3-4 for a had session but it was all I could do to hold 6:30's.. then 1.2 mile slow cool down.. did feel good to hold that pace when shattered, not sure if its a bad thing as not allowed recovery from my marathon saturday, or good to get the body used to running quickish with battered legs..
stunning night again...
But into last 2 weeks hard training now..
Interestingly now have a routine of getting a massage done post any marathon, and for the first time i didn't, and my DOMS is awful.. but this was also my hilliest run for a long time so maybe that was the issue too..
Easy club run tonight, decent bit of banter on the hill and in the pub.
Real easy pace, just pushing on for a couple of climbs and felt ok. Looking forward to the weekend.
I've decided to stick to my own definition of "rest week" and not use someone's else's that involves 12000ft ascent. ;)
Just running easy to get the legs loose and fresh, that's all that's on the radar this week.
3.5 miles on trails this morning..
12.5 miles on trails tonight, 2 miles easy warm up, well 7:10 then 6:50 pace then 10 miles at around 6:20 pace... found it hard work on tired legs on sandy trails.
7 miles done - longest run since February! An injury surely beckons!!
If its sunny I'm not going.
The German aversion to rain continued...
5.7 miles at lunch, then track, but it was raining so one of the group sorted out entry to a gym for free so we did a treadmill session, warm up, 20 mins as hard as you can, cool down.. then steam room.. quite a good session really.. little tempo session, though not sure track wasn't an option..
Decent week in Wales around Dolgelleau (see also Wildlife thread!) didnt quite get as much done as planned. Did Cadar Idris as a walk, then next day as a run around all the tops 15m/5000'. Tried to do Moeb Heblog and the ridge around to add Nantille Ridge, but due to various issues aborted having done only Hebog and next top. Weather was horrendous plus time I started, nav issues and personal safety concerns etc! Biked around Coed Y Brenin. Then couple more walks and short runs! I really don't know Wales as well as I should! Bought Paddy map and Rhinogs map for next time....
23.66m 5000ft at a very relaxed paced. Not the planned run for the day sadly, bit grim on the hill.
Still, a good enjoyable day on the hill regardless.
Nav course mile age, 2x5miles at a slow pace
Ian, when you get the chance. Can you email the 'plan' for Knoydart.
Will do...
12.6 miles, averaged 6:18 min mile pace, but that included 2 steady miles to get going.. feel battered, fairly flat sandy trails, and some rain made them a tad firmer so that helped.. most miles around 6:10-6:15 pace, think its going to be another exciting Sunday afternoon lay on the couch recovering.. maybe a steady 10 k later..
Last week of a 6 week block of 90-100 miles then start the taper, which I'm looking forwards to.
17.6 miles tonight, mainly on cycle ways out in the country side... really really tired, held 6:50 min miles but did not feel good at all.. shattered tbh..
Went for a walk today, Ben Lui and some other lump.
By Jove that walking lark is easy. Need to go for a run.
Coniston fell race route for me this evening, but with a lot of racing recently, legs are feeling heeeeaaavvvvyyyy...
guiseley gallop 10k route for me today. just enough hill for a humid tues evening.
Scorcher of a day 27 C.. so so humid it was untrue.. had a 7km race, came 3rd, in 24 mins, 2 guys ahead in 23, but they were both 66-68 half marathoners using today as a sharpener for hamburg half at the weekend.. so pretty comfortable run on my own. 15 miles for the day.. 7 at lunch then the race tonight..
A barefoot plod on the moors above Ilkley for me, not far or fast, but me and the dog enjoyed it. I can't really call it training, but at least it's 'running', which I haven't been able to do for quite some time so I'm happy with it.
Apart from scuffing my toes and taking the skin off the ends of two of them; my first barefoot injury!!!
Stag do in Marbs...
9 miles at 7:30 am yesterday, lovely run out in hamburg on way to flight..
Today typical Brit in Marbs.. hard 10 mile hilly trail run.. hot day dehydrated.. nice to get the hills in.. don't think the lads were all too impressed... but I said it would be a training camp...
A quick 30min on the roads before heading off to the folks.
Road running, genuinely unpleasant. I prefer the Turbo Trainer.
