what's the score with the bash after, does it start right after the race, or is it later in t'evening? And is there food or is it just the scafell pub for scran?
Is the campsite near the pub good? Don't want to stagger too far.
No it doesn't start straight after ZHR, starts about half 7/8 if memory serves - there's a bit of time to kill in the meantime, I'm sure we can all find appropriate ways of spending it!
No food at the 'do' there's a bar though! It's a big marquee in the field where the race starts opposite the Scarfell hotel. Usually a steel drum affair going off initially followed by a 'disco'
I can't remember if there was food post race put on by Borrowdale FR I was in no fit state to warrant eating last time - takes me a few hours to come round after a race I'm not one of those that can eat a 3 course dinner straight away!! I'm sure there was something though but perhaps someone else can clarify?
The 'do' is independant of the race btw
see.....that was helpful wasn't it?!;)
answers all my q.s emmilou, ta - I always like to know when and where I can get some tea, y'know ;)
Seem to recall there was a BBQ in the field next to the marquee last year? May have just been post-race halucinations though!
Not 100% sure for the bash afterwards but may pop up the night before.
So if nice weather I will probably disappear onto the tops for the evening if anyone fancies a bivi or wild camp? Obviously with cake, and booze.
If looking a bit ropey then be camping in the field and sat in the pub.
i like the constant stream of sandwiches and tea from the hall,
The fords a great place to soak the clarts off prior to many beers in the riverside bar, then a stiff legged dance.
I can't find that info on bus times from Windermere to Borrowdale. Any ideas?
I would imagine you'll have to get from W'mere to Keswick then the bus out from Keswick - I only know as the bus station is at the front of Booths!!
try this http://www.stagecoachbus.com/timetab...5April2009.pdf
The 555 runs pretty regularly from Windermere to Keswick. From Keswick you'll need to get the Honister Rambler or any bus that runs down to Seatoller (seathwaite?) and back. Don't forget to get an all day ticket - I think they're £9.50. But probably cheaper than two singles; check with driver.
All sorted, thanks Guys and Gals. Only a week to go!
We are thinking of coming up for the social side of it. Anyone got any details of the camping etc?
Ta.
you've got an offer over on t'other thread - hope it works out
Hi,
you don't know anyone with another spare borrowdale entry do you?
Got in mess an didn't enter - now I'm desperate.
Thanks
Mary
Does anyone have a number for Andy Scoffield? I need to withdraw from the race but don't want to jepordise any future entry by not letting him know with plenty of notice to be able to fill my place.
Hi
Its in the calendar, have sent you a pm with it - can I have your entry please?
Thanks
Mary
love this shot from Borrowdale last year :p
Really looking forward to this one. I've only run it once before and that was the shortened race in 2007 so I have no frigging idea as to what my time will be and I'm sure the weather will also play its part. If I were doing the PPP I'd be aiming for a 4:10, so I'll naively aim for the same on Saturday  The 3 peaks is 6 miles longer I know but its pussy terrain compared to Borrowdale.
if I do 4.30 I'll be well pleased
if I do 4.5 days I will be pleased. really nervous about this one
