Wasn't running but out on at various points of the course supporting my wife... was a cracking day! A big thank-you to all the Marshals etc who encouraged her round, she had a blast and now has a massive smug grin on her face.

Phew! Back home and got most of the peat off my legs - still struggling to get my nails clean though. What another fantastic day on the hills. I thought last year would take some beating (weatherwise), but this year was even more "clement". Thanks to all for putting on a bloomin' marvelous event.
PS. That could only have been Daz's twin brother - Daz never touches Coke!
Yep, (as a spectator :() a great day and great weather. When I yomped over from Hope for the start there was still a bit of mist on the tops but none when I reversed the route to see people through Kilhill Bridge - 'twas all clear. Saw IDP in about (I think) 25th or so on the road to the start of the climb up Lose Hill. It's a good job the route goes nowhere near the descent from Hollins Cross to Yemans Bridge; it was reeeeet slippy and crap underfoot.
Lookin' for the results now...

What a good day! My first Edale Skyline, & it won't be my last. Even though I lost a sprint for the line. Mind you, next year we need the clag down & gale force winds to remind us what the Peak District's all about :D
Many thanks to all for organising this and getting us the best weather (ever?).
The views were awesome, although for someone coming back to distance, it was a bit wierd seeing where I had to go, with all the top runners small dots in the distance.
I only fell in one bog and lost my fell shoe once, and it was a right palaver trying to get it back on, with cramp trying its best not to let me. Unlike the Trog and Hebden I'm pleased to say tho that my race was not slowed by cramp, so maybe this lazy git is now getting the miles in a he should.
Great to meet Mandy C before the race, hope you had a great one, Brain and Tom afterwards, and Steve Smithies, thanks for your support and gate opening, much appreciated. It was strange tho to see you not racing, but passing me occasionally!
Even tho I'm really unfit, my descending has stayed with me so I luckily came into my own passing lots of tired legs on that fantastic descent.
Think I managed a sub 4 which I was very happy with, especially as the sole Tod Harrier rep!
Thanks again to all the marshalls and helpers and organiser(s).
PS I do love the Peak District, it's awesome, and I will confess this was my first fell race back in the valley since Hathersage in 1987, wot a slacker!
god that was hard, cut off paranoia coupled with abject lack of pacing ability meant unnecessarily fast 1st half, then perma-stitch payback for the rest of my shuffle walk, if it had been tanky weather i would have just curled up to die - to be excavated by future generation as bog woman mummy of brown knoll.
thanks for everyone coaxing me along.
Bit dissapointed to be watching after the dreaded stomach bug struck midweek but what a fantastic day.
One amusing moment when a lady runner asked a marshall at the top of Mam Tor "how far to the cut-off?" and got the reply "about 20 mins" thinking she had asked "how long to the cut-off". Her face was a picture as was her relief a few seconds later.
True what they say about not overdoing it in the first half to Mam Nick - came through in 1.56 today, 8 mins up on my time last year, having really pushed up Lose Hill ... but finished only 3 mins up in 3.52 having really struggled from Grindslow Knoll home.
Still, it was a great day, as noted by all above. And I enjoyed a pint or two on the way home once post-race queasiness had abated. Thanks as ever to the marshalls.
Hi Cive, good to put face to name and what a brill run you had. Glad you had a good run out and enjoyed the day.
Think I managed to sneak a couple of minutes off my time in 08 which I'm happy about.
This is a great race, but I forgot how tough it is and you really do have to try and keep a bit back for the second hard, which is a nightmare with the cut-off. Thanks to the organisers for putting this event on it's brill. Where was Bertie Basset though. He was giving out jelly babies just after the road crossing in 2008!!! Anyway I've gone over to the dark side and Haribo jelly babies now.:D
brilliant weather, if a little too Warm at times, marshalls every where, hows a local to get any advantage:o A bit busy on kit check this morning so couldn't stand around to chat unfortuanatly but saw plenty of Forumites.
I had a good race until Grindslow when I was hit by bad cramp but still hit my target time so feel pretty happy.
I'm sure I had Daz worried until then;)
Great cakes and stew so well done to the Race organising team.
weighed in at 11.11 when i got home I was 16 the last time I hit that mark.
Respect to Em and PaulE though for doing the Down and Up....Lunacy:rolleyes:
Thanks for the lift from Daz as well on the way back down to the Church hall
Down and up was lovely (well, the first half was) and it gained me a few places.... Really only did it as the GK marshall said no one had done so yet - sounded like a good challenge. I think that makes 3 fools who did it, as one of the Dark Peak lads did a strange version where he came out above the top of the zigzags and ran up to the top of RR from there.
What time did you manage Ian? I also hit my 4hrs target (by 3 minutes, 3 seconds) and am already thinking how to go faster next year
Good to see so many weary but contented runners on what was undoubtdley a glorious day to be out on the hills. No matter where on the course you were situated the views are awesome. Will definitley have to ensure my entry is in, in good time, for next year.
Oh & Utd beat Liverpool :) (just in case you weren't aware) so will enjoy my bottle of rescue ale later whilst watching Motd 2.
Not sure I'm allowed out to play..... said I'd be back at half 3 ish, didn't get in till half five as I had to wait for my friend I was giving a lift to and then get some grub..... Also got a lovely black blister on one foot. If I can get a last minute pass out, then I'll be there though!
You got any Resuce Ale left? forgot to bring any cash today.
.....just out interest, what distance/climbing did other people record today. My Garmin gave me 20.5 miles and 4,264ft and looking at the route I seem to have been reasonably close to optimum (it was my third time and I live within spitting distance). Dark Peak website claims : "21miles, 4,500 feet of climb - at least!"
A decent day and perfick weather for a fell race. Brown Knoll was actually not to bad to run up to. The bogs seemed okay.
After managing to run all the way up lose hill I decided I must be going okay so I pushed on a bit.
Got caught at the end by Matt, great finish from him.
Yes Grimmer it was me at the shop.
Well done to everyone today. Yes Ian I knew you wasnt far behind at Win Hill. Well done on your time.
Tried for a sub 3hr 10 myself but not quite. Big thanks to Helen A and John Jod en route. Much appreciated support.
Who was the lady on the stretcher at the end, my heart went out to her. Just had to lend a hand and hope you are okay Kate. The Mountain Rescue boys really do kow there stuff.
Def a day for vest only. It was quite hot.
Yes Ian its diff toget an advantage Woolpacks only:)
A grand day out for my first Skyline. Many thanks to Andy, Ian and all the many marshalls, St Johns, cooks and all others whose names I'll never know.
Lovely weather, Brown Knoll not as terrifying as I'd feared. Bonked a bit after GK, but still safely under 4 hrs, so very happy for an oldish sort of bloke, though I've realised I can't do downhill any more. Too many old injuries threatening to spoil the morrow.
A superb day out, many thanks to all the marshalls and those involved with race organisation. The food afterwards in the village hall was most welcome.
Thanks to the marshall who gave me a jelly baby at Brown Knoll it carried me through the climb up to the Pagoda. Judging by the colour of his shorts I'm geussing it was green flash who passed me as I went back to collect it.:D
I was pleased to finish inside 4 hours as I had a torrid time from the top of Jacob's ladder to Grindslow knoll.
But thoroughly enjoyed it in a retrospective kind of way.:)
here are some pics i took just after you dropped off the edge of kinder

bloody litter louts !!!
Great day out :) Thanks to all the marshalls, organisers & the cake chefs :D And a huge thankyou to the DP runner who led me through the peat groughs round the woolpacks. Didn't look anything like my 2 epic snowy reccys
Can't say I enjoyed much of the race but guess that means I was trying hard. Struggled with cramp in my toes on the 2nd half & wheels really started to come off after GK. Chuffed to knock 20mins off 08 time & make a sub 4 so pain all worth while in the end :D
Lack of training over the past few months and not getting out into the fells since November, led me not to expect much yesterday. Very happy with a time 10 minutes better than 2008. Took it steady to Mam Nick and then used some 'unconventional' routes as I found running on the harder paths far better for me than using the short cuts.
Big thanks to the organisers and the marshals for their efforts and support.
Morning all, how's everyone feeling today? My feet are sore, sore, sore! :(
A big thankyou to all at the club who helped to organise the race.
After several years of trying to run this race I finally made it and I had a fabulous day out. :D The second section was nowhere near as bad underfoot as had been made out though, just a bit mucky in parts but OK running.
Great to catch up with some forumites as well of course.
Did see someone getting stretchered off at the end - I take it the lady was one of the runners. Looked serious, hope she recovers quickly.
