Slightly off topic but you all seem to ride quite a bit so you might know .... if you have a second set of break levers on the cross bar bit of drop bars can you get rid of them? they are driving me crazy! :(

I've been at it again Ady.
Steady 16 mile on canal as a recovery ride to turn the legs over. Cracking afternoon but only slow going due to amount of folk. Most are very pleasent though:)
Finally taken a picture of my bike.....some of you may notice a lack of drinks bottle holders.....can anyone recommend some that will suit the carbon?
Also, any idea how you find the right height for the seat?
I was trying to sort this out the other week. There are lots of helpful webpages, and many techniques to calculate it. Here's one:
http://cyclinginfo.co.uk/blog/bikefi...saddle-height/
Chap at the club has one, looks good in the flesh too. They are sold as an Audax bike due to the longer head tube but you can use it for anything I guess. Have a look around for carbon cages, loads available that will go well.
Quick way to set saddle height is sit on bike clipped in whilst holding onto a wall/fence. When leg is extended and crank is at lowest position you should still have a little flex/bend left in your leg. If none lower, if too much then higher. That should get you somewhere near and then take an allen key out with you to make minor adjustments until it feels 'just right'.
Interesting... in need of a bike at moment and local bike shop are trying to sell me the same - at £800 it's a lovely bike but I fear rather out of my price range for the meagre amount of cycling I do... but like the idea of having a bike that's pretty bomb-proof round town and which I can then go and play on in the country..
I LOVE my bike, can highly recommend it (apart from the top brake levers ) It's light and easy for town and i have panniers for hauling my work clothes / laptop around too so it can be really practical! and as Ady said, its not so much a thief magnet as a mtn bike. £800 isn't too bad a price for a decent bike, i paid a bit less but that was luck and eyelash fluttering :D maybe paying a little bit more will encourage you to use it a bit more ......;)
Just 30 minutes on turbo keeping above 100 rpm.
Finished in a puddle of sweat.
A good 16 mile with Mrs Stagger. Works well up hills but only steady down. Got wet.
Mary Towneley loop today - what a super route-47miles of mountain biking with very little on the road , no main roads - only crossings. but how much climbing? One report has it as 4000ft, another 6700ft. must be well over 4000.
Made it a round 50 with an out and back on the bridleway to Thieveley Pike.
16 mile today on the road. Legs are shot.
6 days training has made them very heavy.
REST tomorrow;)
18 miles at a slightly faster average speed than usual. Must be the new RED tyres. Obviously...
Last week.... 550km/16500m or 344miles/53700'
80% off road
Slightly fatigued now :)
61 miles, 6800 feet in 5 1/4 hours. Over Holme Moss from Bradford to Macclesfield. With a head wind all the way. :(
This is my longest ever bike ride, and my training guide tells me I should be tapering a bit prior to my 90 miles in two weeks' time.
:D Not quite ady, slightly closer to home.Finished the transwales on saturday.Quote:
Where have you been off roading Rodders - Nepal??????

Couple of times round the red route in Gisburn forest on the crosser. Not all that impressed with the routes, more fun to be had up and over the hill behind my house. Great for the kids though if you have or can borrow some.
1hr 5 mins to work this morning, will be 10mins more home.
Approx 38/9 mile today.
What a ride home in the heavy rain:eek: I need some all weather tyres:o
Did you go around the new red route? I found it ok not quite a good as winlatter there is only one part I run at guisburn, a couple of switch backs below welpstone crag(scratting for grip) even the black bit at the top is ridable but as you say, still more fun to on the fells
Splendid 2hour off-roader on mountain bike. Social ride with a dozen or so friends, forumites and K&C club mates, organised and led by Antisocial. He even bought me a beer.
A nice 50miles tonight
A bit dark and just got back with my lights on. Needed a can of coke after Sundays exertions:eek:.
A bit windy but a lovely night.
Donned out in my Mapei Quick Step top i decided to blast from Matlock down to the Hurt Arms at Tom Boonen pace, Errr ouch.
Hi Emm, long time no see, all ok? :)
All my bikes go out in the rain, apart from my track bike... Then again, none of the are pink :D
all ok Hann, sort of...always a drama of sorts kicking off!!!! You?
I have my winter hack for those wet dark nights but don't want to go on that yet when it's still SUPPOSED TO BE SUMMER . Anyway, the rain has stopped so looks like I can play out after all as long as am back before lighting up time as the pink bike doesn't do lights either!!! :D
A moderately hilly ride with 7 others from the club out to Hellifield, Airton, over the moors to Settle and on to a fantastic hidden gem of a cafe at Feizor. The return was a very wet one and involved losing 3 riders, finding 2 and then locating the other 20 miles further up the road. Around 70 miles at 16 average with a few bumps included.
Got home from work in the heavy rain again.
Hit a pothole and then that horrible hissing sound (flat tyre)
I just put a new tube in.
Old lad under the bus shelter said "in my day we would have repaired that"
I said for the fiver it cost I was not even bothered.
He then asked why I was using a solid tyre on the back and an inflatable on th front.
I smiled and bid him good evening:)
25 mile blast after work in the glorious evening sunshine. Went as fast my little legs could take me :D Lots of bikies out tonight but they must have all been in a mood as were all miserable buggers
Only 1 idiot driver on the road tonight.
Got home got off the bike with proper wobbly legs! :o
