Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
I agree entirely. cant believe those people who say" it was a bit squelshy". They must have been at the front coz it was thick mud at the back. I set off slowly and felt reasonably comfortable except the first and last sections with the wind which definately slowed me down. I came in over 5 mins longer than last year but found the climbs easier....Who knows??

I felt I was running so slow I may as well have been picking the flowers along the way. I didn't know if I'd be able to get to the end so my priority was to keep my pace right down. Terrible cramp stopped me from speeding up at the half-way point and I didn't enjoy the boggy section before Whernside (that brought on the cramp). Apart from those horrible calf cramps, my running felt comfortable all the way . . I loved the path to Ingleborough - such an easy surface after the bogs.
Maggie keep massaging those legs.

Same....I love this event and the marshalls a are a fantastic bunch but I was starving afterwards and had to wait till I got home to eat again. Hate to moan but for a £20 entry fee the food needs to be more efficiently dished out and also a veggie option provided.Tthe first yearI did it I queued for ages and it was a hog roast with no veggie alternative, last year I had to walk /crawl to the other side of the field for an egg sarnie and this year I took 1 look at the loooong queue, smelt the bacon and burgers frying, threw my meal ticket in the bin , got in the car and drove home.....a piece of cake and mug of tea might be quicker and easier....
As for the stiles, we had to jump them at 8 miles because of the big gang of walkers blocking the gates (not their fault, they were having a great day out too it was just a bit mad and with every second counting at that point)
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
I'm with you Maggie. Didn't wait to stand around on tired legs queueing for my meal. I'm not complaining mind. I just hopped in my car & ate when I got home & have been eating ever since.

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
I did it last year Maggie May and there was a big pot of delicious bean stew under the bench where they were serving the barbecue stuff. I didn't even need to queue as the queue was for the meat. I think someone told me it was there though because I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Quick question, what did you guys (who did the race) think of the new decent from the summit of Pen-y-Ghent?
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
I liked it and my club mates seemed to like it.

how do you reckon it effected things? time wise? What 300m longer? what's it like underfoot.
I've never liked that section against the runners anyway.

You're doing it all Pete Tong. I ask my wife to queue for the food while I get the Copper Dragon beers down me neck. Then she drives me home.

Had a look on this year and last year's traces. From PYG summit to rejoining the track I was 1min30 slower this year. That's on 3h:40min overall pace. Was slower overall this year anyway - so prob only a minute or so in it I reckon, if that. And clearly less for you and the front runners Iain.
