Loads yesterday, soft, hard going, gullies full of it around Bleaklow.

Getting close now- assume there'll be plenty of reccying going on this weekend. I'm joining The Gay Dads for a mince around tomorrow. Anyone else? What its like up there? Slow going I expect...
Went up from slippery stones to Cut Gate then round to Swains Head last night and back down the gulley route. Snow pretty much gone now though I see some forecast for Friday. That's a tough old section, wasn't easy staying on track in the dark. Does anybody every try going via Hoar stones and following some of the channels?
Well?
apparently it was dark wet and windy...
results will appear here shortly

I was out on Hollins Cross to meet one of the University of Shefield teams and snatched a few photos of a handful of teams as they passed. It was good to see how many could still raise a smile after 12 hours of running!
Congratulations to all the finishers. The photos can be found here:

Who's in this year then? Mean Girls are back - better get some miles under me belt:eek::eek:
First reccie done on Bleaklow.....
Very keen indeed. We (and a few other teams) ran round like headless chickens for ages trying to find the CP at Bleaklow Wain Stones during the 2015 race…. Sometimes the so called easier bits catch you out.
What were conditions like up there today IDP, much snow?
Keen Ian!
Let me know if you fancy any midweek reccies... That's if you are ok running with the competition.. ;)
Frosty but wet under foot...not on the scale of 5 or more years ago the reseeding has seen to that...
Great to bump in to High Peak Rollerblader Julien Minshull on Bleaklow with other Glossopdalers
Competition! Where?? Happy to get some long runs in Mikk. How mobile are you? Bikes don't count
Looks like I'm in too (same team as mick, I think) and will hopefully get some runs out done along the route soon
Oh dear Mrs Staggers team has not been chosen.
Maybe we should look to move closer to Derbyshire.
Date's already in my diary so I know to turn my phone off in the week leading up to it!
only 3 ladies teams on the entry list? Am I reading that right?
http://www.highpeakmarathon.org.uk/
I know of one ladies team not getting a place. shocking to have a measly 6% of entries attributed to ladies teams.
Aye, but that's what happens when its by favouritism or selection.
Mates rates.:-(
Proportion of females 21%, males 79% in the team list. Without knowing the proportions on the entry forms it is not fair to talk about favouritism. Perhaps women have more sense than men when choosing an event to enter?:p
Team i was in didn't get in so doing Transgrancarnia, blessing in disguise. Don't think there's any man eating bogs there ha ha
What's the percentage of Lady attempts in respect to completions Bob please?
Before Bob gives the stats I would hazard a guess that the proportion of completions among women starters is higher than that of men!
Fair enough, interesting observation and agree perhaps not ideal.
However, to apply true “equality” to the entry process, that is an associated risk. But, I see the point that the quantity of entries (men only, women only and mixed teams) are not evenly split. So maybe there is an argument to apply a “factor” dependent upon the make-up/distribution of the initial entrants. But how far do you take it…… separate weighting factors for different age categories? Poor Rich Bradbury seems to already have enough on his plate :-)
Poor comment Trevor and one which disappoints me. Rich works really hard on a heavily over subscribed race to get a balance of new teams, and those that have entered before and not got in, I'm a mate of Rich and didn't get in last year, I know of a Dark peak team who have been in for years who didn't get in last year. DP had a Christmas run last night and a number of runners who hadn't made the cut and didn't get in
There is no favouritism the team name is pulled out of the draw with a bias to those who have entered before and not got in...
The only way to get a guarantee a place is to win your category the year before
Agree with Ian here Stagger .race organisers have a hard time getting these things on
If on the otherhandvyou wanna have a go at our governing bodies who openly discriminate I will be behind you all the way ,Decisions made at the top should reflect the participants wishes and shouldn't be discriminatory be it AGE ,RACE ,RELIGION ,SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR GENDER.
Race organisers do a great job ...support em...a race is giving all it's proceeds to a Cumbrian charity ..They at least are showing Fell Runners Care..wonder if the FRA will match the donation
Be nice to think they could Season of Smiles
It's all about perception and opinions.
Some people appeared to be luckier than others on previous result's.
I do not want to offend the organisers merely pointing out an observation.
Route choice from Lose Hill to Win Hill. I remember going north after Lose Hill on Redbull Steeple Chase Race in to woodland and found it ok, Or is it better to drop down south towards Hope?
