I know I can do it. Just having dropped out once it plays on my mind. Hate not finishing races. Sub 4 is my general target too, although I think I should be more like 3:45 if I get it right. Where did I go past you at Holme moss? I think I hit form early for that race, I felt pretty solid all the way round with the exception of the last 1/2 mile on the road where I felt grim (don't think I was alone either). But then at Borrowdale I bombed big style and struggled from green gable onwards, haven't been 100% since :)

Last year I ran in Speedcross, felt it gave a little bit of protection on hard trails etc but had enough grip when it got a bit muddy, but if was pretty dry then road shoes would be fine. Rob Jebb shows you can, winning the race a number of times in a pair of Nike racing flats.
Personally I wouldn't wear 190's as I feel they would be a little too thin for such a distance and if its hard you'll end up with sore feet... but saying that Carl Bell came 2nd last year wearing 190's, so if you feel comfortable in them then you should be fine.

Just after laddow rocks, i had a shocker and couldn't get going after that climb. First AL on a roasting day and went out too hard with too little water.
I tend to wear 190s for everything as they are the only fell and trail shoes i have, but I'm not sure i want to do 23 mile of hard tracks and road in them. Might get something new for this and ultras.
As long as I get back in shape I'm really looking forward to it.

Cheers Derby Tup / Anonymouse. Just checked 809 places gone, 999 limit! Problem is, I'm at work with no SiEntry number and not sure I can remember where it is! Its going to have to wait for tomorrow morning when i get home!! Surely 190 people won't enter tonight!!? :confused:
