Set off up unfeasibly steep fields whilst listening to someone tell you it's 'very runnable'. At the point where you think your calves or lungs or both will burst realise there is some good running ahead. Totter up the steepest and roughest ground enduring what can only be called 'robust encouragement' from Morgan and Stagger. Start running again then notice Ian Holmes approaching at astonishing speed back from the top (you might hear him say he was taking it easy in the pub later when you ask him how much he won by). Then hack up another steep hillside, before staggering up the the trig-point, possibly manned by one of the best athletes of his generation. Reverse, wash in stream, feel sad the King's Arms is currently shut and start thinking about losing a stone and getting proper fit for next time. Oh and if you see Mr or Mrs Peejay make sure you thank them because it's truly one of the best races in the calendar
