Oh no Dan-what have you done? This is why I am not doing it-too soon after injury but I'm off my crutches!

Well done everyone today-so sorry to have missed yet another great day out. It looked like a grand day too?dantodman- I have sent you a pm after realising exactly why you are on crutches! I love this race-its the fist one that ever made me cry and think I could not take another step at 18 miles...here's hoping for 2016....
Another great Hobble & no rain or sleet at all despite the Met Office. Many thanks to Brett & the team. Many great performances, but mine wasn't one of them. Didn't spot Rachel, didn't spot anyone on crutches, didn't have anything in my legs after the Long Causeway. From there it was horrendous, & people were passing me the rest of the way. That'll teach me to cane it the weeekend before (Trollers Trot). Still, it's all good training for the Calderdale Hike, which is going to be a considerably tougher proposition. And that's good training for the Fellsman. And that's good training for the Apocalypse 100. The only way is up.
Good to chat with so many people & to get the 2015 Runfurther Champs off to a flying start.
Cheers everyone. Really nice day and good to meet everyone. Some nice photos. Thanks. Always nice to win something :-D
Thank you to Brett and his team of marshalls yesterday. Have been walking like John Wayne after a long day in the saddle today. 1st time I've been offered a beer & curry in a race..... was tempted (the last checkpoint just in case you're interested for next year). Good to natter with different people during the day.
The gooey jam donuts went down well, although I couldn't manage a full one - guess I'm just a lightweight.
results now up: http://kcac.co.uk/events/hobble/15_hobble.html
after my second outing, this race is growing on me! the 'hobble' is rearing its head today I can say!
p.s. does anyone know which variety of Talisker we were treated to below Mankinholes?
i reckon that's 5-1 to me or there abouts if people want to have a look at past results and you want to hope you can stop as I wont
Donuts were amazing Manhar, the marshalls let me leave the non jam bit which was good of them! Oh and the cakes at the end, wow. Thanks to Brett and all involved with organising such goodies and a great day.
Thanks also for the intro to Karen Brett, and thanks Karen for the into to Adnan.
Saw you Dan just after Mankinholes. Thanks for standing out to cheer us on.
It was all gone by the time I got there. Nevertheless it was good to see you Mr Brightside.
I had a scone there to chase down the doughnuts and biscuits I'd been stuffing all day. Beer and curry were off by the time I got there. ;)
Where was the beer and curry? I declined whisky but am thinking fuels by jammy donuts might be the future
The offer of a beer & veg curry was at the last checkpoint Karen
Are you sure you wasn't hallucinating Manhar?
Quite sure DT............. in fact I have witnesses as there were a few of us who arrived at the checkpoint together......
2015 Haworth Hobble video here https://www.youtube.com/user/ChannelRun
Serves me right for not bothering to cross the bridge and go to the van then. just shouted my number to the marshals and carried on up the hill
Nice video, 'Seymour'. There was lots of conversation going on - so different to Flower Scar the week before. That's the difference between an ultra and an 'AS'.
I've just posted my pictures as well.
Feel free.
Good to see a few forumites at mankinholes, hope the jelly babies helped you all up stoodley.
I will be out and about this Sunday assisting with the Heptonstall race, hope to see some familiar faces there as well.
Dan
I didn't see any curry, just doughnuts and biscuits. Maybe I got there a bit early :-(
Yes nice video and pictures. Thanks :-D
Great video, Thanks!
Hobble over for another year, have just been looking at previous years and times, have just found 2 finishers certificates from 1993 & 1994.They highlight the NEW route of 33 miles 4400 feet. Is this down to modern measuring devices? Where did that mile go? Where did the old route go? As for times, an hour slower than'93
A couple of folks had it as 31.7miles on their Garmins.
Last time I did Hobble was 2013 and FWIW times were about 5 mins quicker this year. Just proves what a good day for it it was. Mud was tame. Fab race as ever.
Shouldn't there be a marshall/CP taking numbers at Heptonstall? Just so there's no dispute that everyone has gone right up there. And to save folks running too far up the hill, I've done it once, others had on Sat.
I was chased down by a couple of folks who must have ran plenty of the long drag up from Hardcastle Crags, fair play Dan Shrimpton. Other one was was Martin Terry who chased down Mark Liptrot for the MV50 win.
I screwed up getting across the road at Todmorden. I went down the church snicket and you follow your nose cutting down and left, but I ended up coming down the steep road and turning left. Can anyone describe how you join the road directly opposite where you cross?
After going down the narrow paths from the side of the church and popping out at the side of the houses, turn right down the road then first left. Then left again down an unmade road then cut right down a grassy banking. You pop out directly opposite the road to the Mankinholes Climb.

Why worry?
The Hobble is a bit of fun for a Saturday in March.
In 1990 (when in my mid 40s I did 5.05) it was also listed as 33 miles and 4400 feet and the winner came in on 4.01 ie 7 minutes faster than this year, so I rather doubt that a "mile" has gone missing in the meantime.

Toyota crown- I ignored the so called short cut because I knew there were bra, blew and slippery cobbles at base. I actually beat 4 that took the short cut, one fell in the cobbles. by going the long way you have the chance to look for an opportunity to cross the road whereas those taking the short cut have to stop and wait unless they are lucky
