think I was there or thereabouts with you two too from just before Brown Knoll on ... how was the 'low road' to Grindslow emmilou?
I remember looking down to my right and seeing you and another lady runner running through the tussocky stuff on the more direct line and then a couple of youngsters who were watching from the path shouting 'where are they going!?', and a bloke saying 'it's a shortcut!', and the kids shouting back 'No it's not, that's rubbish!!'
:p
I finished in 4'17'' as well and remember hearing you asking if that was Ladybower below us. I was a few yards ahead of you at the time - I wonder which of us crossed the line first?
The Skyline was one of the hardest races I've done so far. I'd been suffering from flu (the real variety, not man-flu) for a couple of weeks previously and was in two minds whether or not to run. I'm glad I did (despite feeling rough as a badger's bum for most of the trip) although I can't say I really enjoyed the experience - my legs were just soooo heavy right from the first ascent. I had to dig deep to persuade myself not to drop out. I guess that's part of the challenge of fell running. Otherwise I'd have stayed at home eating burgers and watching telly as my life drifted away.
So despite my subsequent aches & pains, a MASSIVE thanks to the race organisers, marshalls, well-wishers and fellow runners. You all made it worth getting out of bed for! And the curry I treated myself to on Sunday evening in order to replenish my energy/fat reserves was the cherry on the top of the Edale cake!
I may well have seen you as i came off the top of RR. I asked if you had gone up and down, but to start with i just thought you were going to wrong way as i was a bit confused!! I got in just in front of you (4.03)..
And by the way, my bad patch lasted from the top of RR right round. For some reason i felt bad the whole way round... Looking forward to next year though..
Yes I led Mary and Em through the rough stuff, but cramp set in and the two ladies went ahead. I then took the shortcut round the Woolpacks and came out at Crowden Clough ahead of them and several others who'd taken the long way round:). Overtook another group approaching Grindslow Knoll.
I'm just in front of you FFR in this photo on the approach to Brown Knoll.

P.S. Where did you get the Bowland vest?
What a fantastic route the edale skyline is.sunday was my first attempt at it and i have to say i really enjoyed it.I was quite pleased to finish 6th and also to run sub 3hrs(2.56.14) especially as i took a few bad lines when Pete vale and chris steele were still in sight.well done to everyone just to get round i reckon!:)
I passed a chap with a white Otley vest coming down the last flight of stone steps, bob on 4.00 hrs ...
That were me in the Otley vest. Were you the other Bowland runner? i could hear you behind me but my legs were totally bu66ered.
I lost my nerve on that rocky bit. There was a lass from Ilkley right in front of me and she went down it dead easy and just kept motoring away from me all the way down. It didn't help that my glasses kept coming off making it difficult to see where I was going. :(

Seem to be in the wrong order though
Image 3784 is of at least 2 maybe 3 doing the 'down and up'
Great pics Dan - and you conveniently show me having to carry my glasses again. I think my ears must shrink after 3 hours running so they keep falling off. I going to staple them on for my next race.
Nice pickies.
If it was someone running in a red vest and black tights and looking knackered it was me.... the other person I saw doing it was wearing blue, and appeared about 5 minutes after me. I did 3:56:57 and got passed by someone in a Dark Peak vest coming into the last field. (gutting - first time I've ever been passed on a descent, but my legs were shot by then)
plenty of action packed forumites on show but just what has happened to Adam

Hey thats cos hes short like me.
We dont have the stride to leap over the bogs.
Adam is a real quality runner and is very young. I thought I was catching him heading up to the woolpacks but he disappeared into the distance after that.
You have to go some to run the time he did and chatting to him at the end he told me he ate nothing all the way round.
Class or what.
Brilliant effort Adam. His dad is also a quality runner and must be so proud.
Just got to get his dad running for pennine now before those pesky dark peakers snap him up.
Incidentally Ian, I was ambushed at the end by two of your hombres. John and Matt had me for breakfast.:)

there are some good photos on the Dark Peak Website
I'd dispute that Daz - I look dead on my feet on mine, and my vest's ridden up so I look like I'm wearing a crop top!
Race no 104 if you want a chuckle
A big thank you from me to all those Dark Peakers, their family and those from other clubs who came to help at the Skyline on Sunday.
An event such as the Skyline takes a lot of effort, and it was great to see the club pulling together to produce what was a great day.
For those who like to plan ahead, next year’s race is Sunday March 27th. Fine weather guaranteed!
Thanks Again
Andy Jenkins, Edale Skyline Organizer
YAY thanks andy and all the marshals, cake chefs and soup servers!
