I can do more climbs seating, yes I can do some standing all the way but you use more energy and get tired faster. Anyone can flash up the hills standing and kill themselves but why. Take your time, sit down , keep your cadence up and don't grip to tight.
You kinda get used to your limit on hills but the key to faster hills is simply drop weight.
You won't be like a 54kg Spanish climber overnight but dropping weight is huge. Now that I'm back to just over 60 kilos I can climb properly again.
Personally I like to climb hills seating in training because I always know I have a fair bit in hand if I need to stand on the pedals. If I'm doing a harder ride I will stand towards the top of the hill and push it then. That gives you a bit of strength training if your like. But generally seating is more efficient and your shaved legs look better.
