I saw what I think must have been a mink yesterday down on the riverbank. Weasely / ferrety looking thing, dark brown to black and about as long as my forearm; very agile and also very comfortable swimming in the water :eek:

two red squirrels, a dotterel, loads of ptarmigan, sunbuntings but no deer very surprising.

Apart from plenty of Canada Geese (flying overhead and on the reservoir), Curlew, Lapwings & a Merlin over Kex Gill Moor best encounter was the grass snake on one of the paths around Thruscross Reservoir.

I found a grass snake today, unfortunatley it had been flattened by a vehicle.
