Still not decided, or registered.
It's the travelling (& time), heading up the A65 as far as Kirkby Lonsdale, then over through Whittington/Arkholme/etc... to Carnforth that puts me off*
Then, parking up at Hest Bank, leaving the car there, getting on a bus for the (hour?) ride to Flookburgh.
And the return journey afterwards, when I ran it in 2009, SWMBO & myself stopped over there the night before, which was easier (sadly couldn't get a room at 'The Midland Hotel' in Morecambe)
She took me to the start, before driving back round to 'watch the sands'
I have no doubt that you'll be way ahead of me, if I do go over
*...says the man who once drove down to Plymouth to compete in a mountain-bike race, then drove straight back..... (I wsa much younger then)
Sod it. What's the worst that can happen?
Depending on the rain, waist deep bogs!
See you there tho
Lashed it down today. Snorkel packed.
First time I have done this and what a cracking race it was. The hail, rain, wind, puddles and the fast flowing rivers just added to the fun on this superbly organised event.
Many thanks to all the marshals who may not have enjoyed the weather as much as I did.
Good shout Eirik. Epic race. Thanks to all involved espeially the wettest most wind-swept marshalls. Eirik - you still up for recceing sedburgh wed? (woodenlegs=mark!)
There's some good photographs there Richard!!
I 'nipped round the corner' earlier to speak to my club-mate, & I don't think he enjoyed it too much, but he finished safely (which is the main thing!)
Legs are feeling better than expected today so I might be up for the Sedbergh recce. I'll let you know tomorrow.
Yes, epic race indeed. I loved those steep non grippy downhills but the cramp got me late on so I found the final climb and the last mile on the road rather unpleasant!
