It looks to me like he's trying to get Phelps 's butterfly record:rolleyes:

Did you have an innvo8 cap on? I think we passed each other loads of times during the race if it is you (looks like you). I had skins leggings on and an tiny OMM rucksack...
anyone know if there's any more pics around somewhere?
My first ever DNF! Got a bit lost, only a year to wait for annother go!
Glad you got back in one piece, getting worried you were still somwehere on the course... ;) Nice to meet you on the day matey. :D
Much humble pie still being eaten following my disappointing 4:47 at Borrowdale . I ran up Whernside and up Ingleborough yesterday in a 15.5 mile loop out of Ingleton - its a solid run too and I whizzed round........... two hours quicker than I ran Borrowdale, even though Borrowdale's just a tad over a mile and a half longer!! :D
Well Done to all that did it, no matter what your time was you should still pat yourself on the back for even completing it.....or DNF'ing it.
I couldnt even get round borrowdale so your all more of a man that i am!
Maybe next year.;)
Confidence has taken a bit of a knock. Got to get it together for the OMM!!
Different races completely so hard to compare.
I think Borrowdale is harder when running it because of steep hills rough terrain etc etc whilst Eirik the Viking (forum name not a real viking) thinks 3 peaks is harder because terrain is easier, more runnable therefore you are running harder.
In reality a lot depends on your preference and style of running. Although someone said your Borrowdale time is roughly your 3 peaks time so should give you some idea of timing.
yeah that's what I thought - there is weirdly something 'restful' about steep ascents. God, I never thought I'd hear myself say that.
I think i just wasn't prepared for the terrain. On the Isle of Man we don't have any running on big, moving greasy rocks (Scafell). Also never been to this area before, a recce would have made a big difference. When the clag hit me, i had no idea. If you don't know where you are and visibility drops to 15 feet, a map and compass aren't really much use!
Just glad i met a couple of fellas who knew the way off Great Gable (cheers, guys!), i might have still been up there walking in circles if it wasn't for them! I wanted to experience some different events this year (MMM, PPP, Borrowdale and OMM), and this was definately good experience. As Simon said, there is un finished business there. Next year i'll have it.
aye, fair do's - the recce did make a lot of difference for me I must admit
the only level it didn't was that I knew too well what pain I was about to be in ....
I was one of the marshalls on the top of Scafell Pike (my first time marshalling a fell race).
Just wanted to say thanks to all those runners who showed their numbers when asked and thanked us for being there doing the marshalling. :)
Not sure if i saw a marshal on Scafell. Cheers for being there though!
by the way, looks like about 325 started the race - what happened to the other 175?
Took a look at the weather and thought B&Q looked like a better option?
some good footage on Youtube of the scree descent off SP (I managed to spot meself on it, just!)
The entry form for the 2010 Borrowdale race now available on www.borrowdale-fell-runners.org.uk

I think there is a problem with the Borrowdale FR web site (or is it just me?) but I cannot get onto it. Could you let us know when it is fixed?
(I marshalled last year and really want to be 'on the other side' this year)
It was OK very early yesterday, there must have been a rush later on
Just how quickly is this likely to fill up? I'm probably worrying unnecessarily, but I've got to wait until after I've done Duddon this w/e before I can honestly say I've got the qualifying races! I'm just aware that the Fred Whitton bike thingy fills up in a matter of hours, but even though this is a top fell race it won't be that bad will it? I hope not, I've wanted to do this for years but have always been away at the time, but am about this year...
I think you'll be ok until well after Duddon TT - seem to remember last year it taking a few weeks to fill up.
You should be fine entering after Duddon. It only fills up super-quick in championship years. On a normal year it takes a good few weeks to fill.
The website should be fine as it has been tested using a range of browsers. If you have any problems getting the form then send an email to [email protected] and i will email you the form.
