The LBS suggested I went for some Schwalbe ones. Much as I love spending money and getting nice kit on bikes, I don't particularily want to spend loads on a winter tyre which possibly won't last long.....

I think they're pretty hard wearing. I must admit I've not used 'em meself yet, though.

Too right FishBulb! I rode my 'IslaBike' CX-er from Lancaster to Lands End this summer, on 2 year-old LandCruisers. There's still enough meat on them for at least 2x 3PeaksCX.
