Exactly. The way some people fanny about you'd think it was difficult.
Socks - cheap supermarket ones. Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, whatever.

The only proof i am aware of is me saying that a pair of legs in a photo are mine and you know how full of sh*t I can be. My benefits are safe for now, must dash the motorised wheelchair needs a service and I want to use it to get to the Lothersdale race tonight.

you can have a look at socks on pete blands site, they have off road stuff, and they end up wet quickly, i wear fell walking socks also, sometimes.
Glad you are recovering from that terrible sounding crash:)

Re: Do you remember getting in
If you are looking for a flat start but away from people, you could always try the Radcliffe trails.
Radcliffeac has a beginners group run by a friend of mine as well. It gives you the push to get out of the door on those dark evenings. At this time of year we obviously stick to the roads though.
Holcombe hill is a good one to try to acheive as it is quite steep but good surface up a dirt driveway but you have a sense of acheivement reaching the top.
Re: Do you remember getting in
I got into this after years riding bikes. I thought i would do the New years day fell race because it was something different to try. My line of thought went- it's only three miles it'll be a laugh. I don't remember laughing! I was going up and down stairs sideways for a week afterwards!
