:D I made one this morning too (not for my mum though, she got the pleasure of my company for a couple of hours and some chocs and stuff :o )
Now I am off oop norf for a few days with my dad :D
I made a lovely chocolatey thing at the weekend, not really a cake but a dessert, can't remember the exact quantities off the top of my head but this should work:
Cream 50g sugar and 50g butter mix in 1 egg, 100g melted choc (good quality) and 75g SR flour.
Pour into a greased 1 1//2 pint dish.
Mix together 50g chopped pecans, 50g brown sugar and 3 tbl spns cocoa powder and sprinkle over the cake mixture.
Finally pour over 500mls strong coffee. This looked like way too much liquid, but it all disappeared to leave a nice gooey bottom :)
Bake in a hot oven for 50 mins and serve with a dollop of creme fraiche and a few rasberries... lovely!
Following Emmilou's recipe , did a banana & walnut cake for my team mates to share after Edale race, went down very well
