Can all you enthusiastic runners out there please pass this info to your club's Webmaster as not every one knows that the entry address has changed.
Entry Form Here
Cheers
Ian
Went out with Grimmer today and ran the Bleaklow section. To say it was damp is a bit of an understatement. Very similar to the bad part of last years race.
Torside Res was overflowing and the clough was foaming mass of water. On the path above Torside there were so many streams pouring over the edge that the path was virtually underwater! On the way back up to Hern Clough the path was also underwater and was very difficult to cross due to the amount/speed of water.
Visibily was atrocious but we went there and back in about three hours checking a few of the options and bearings as we went.
Kit hanging up to dry at the moment, great fun.
Roll on the Big Day
Yes I remember two runners swim across:eek: But the amount of water pouring off Bleaklow would put it pretty close.
Are you still up for a trip over Kinder on Thur/Friday Andy I was thinking of a Triple crossing (that would double as a TT recce aswell) Bring your waders;)
Ian, when is pre entry deadline???????
Hi Daz
14th November is closing date for entries with NO ENTRIES ON DAY.
I was talking to Andy the other night and we are already over 50 entries with about 6-8 entries a day coming through.
Looks like it will be a sell out so get that entry in quick.
If you do cancell and let us know there is a 50% refund( not sure if there is a closing date for this though.
Ian
What times are folk looking for???? Pb's etc??? Conditions etc being good to fair...
Is there any chance of the new regime allowing the Rollickstones route to be used again - that would really help with your sub-4.
The "problem" with the Rollick Stones route isn't of our doing.
The landowner, of about 50 acres below Rollick Stones, shoots on Sundays and won't allow access over his bit of England.
I have not been in touch with him but may try for next year, I like the Rollick Stones route myself.
Just in conversation with Moors for the Future regarding their conservation areas on Bleaklow that may affect the route, so watch this space for any news.
If there are out of bounds areas (Bleaklow moors sections etc) will people be penalised for using these en route?? - which may mean marshalling near by...
Apart from Rollick Stones I'm not aware of any. You have to start up Torside Clough (Pennine Way) but once beyond the stile above the farm you can go where you please. This is the best part of the route for choices and the competitors are seen spread out all with their personal lines.
But there is access from the Longdendale Trail at about SK071984 which takes you through the woods and straight up Wildboar Clough. That should be a reasonable alternative.
The idea is to go through check points, which way you do it between, as long as it does not upset the locals, is up to you.
As I posted, I am talking with Moors for the Future as they are asking for us to avoid certain areas. I will let you know where these areas are once I have had a reply from them.
Depends on exactly where the checkpoints are and any instructions about the route whether that makes any sense. It wouldn't have been a good idea last year as the checkpoint was at 072990, and we had to go anticlockwise round the reservoir I think.
Had you dried out by the time you got to Torside Geoff?
Entry List as it stands at 03/10/2008 :)

Any of you PFR /DPFR or Holmfirth etc planning any recce's of this - weekends etc??
are you posting here if so??;)
I daresay that there'll be a fair few out over the coming weeks or so. Check this post and the "Recce" section just in case.
BTW - where are you based Bluebike?
Nice one, will look out for info - what time you looking for in good conditions???
That's fightin' talk where I come from.
But I've moved.
(Again).
Can you believe it, we have an indoor registration with Toilets!!!!:D
Many thanks to Peak Bog Man for doing the all leg work and making it possible. It should make kit check/registration all the more pleasant. Only 200m from the start.
More details to follow but that should make us more popular with the natives...;)
Entry form is filled in - just need to write cheque and send off
