Was a very gentle run around the Wrekin. Out from 6:15 till 7, never saw anyone else. Quite cold, but nothing like as parky as yesterday.

45 mins through snow drifts up ont hills above Ripponden wit dog, back feeling slightly better so had a bit of a trot downhill.
Half an hour in Sheffield's Endcliffe Park and up the Porter Valley followed by a kebab at the Greedy Greek. Forced to abandon the car on the way home. Top night out...!
Jules and Molly!
64 minutes head torching in the snow tonight.
7 mile over the fields around Bramhope near Leeds. Deep snow with the sheep peeping out from the drifts :w00t:
Usual blast up Foel Goch, nice 6 miler, cold on top..

Am I alone in not fancying a run in deep snow or summat? How do you NOT trip over hidden stones every 5 yards? I don't mind a light covering, but I was up on the moors today with the dogs, and I couldn't even see where the paths/tracks are. It's probably over a foot deep in most spots up there.
You missed a cracking headtorcher from Kildwick last night :)
Whats not to like

Typical! Where did you all go, and how deep was the snow? I managed a pretty humdrum seven-odd miles along the towpath tonight, but the snow along there is fairly compacted now so no danger of slidy-stumbling over hidden rocks every two feet...
Not very hilly either, it has to be said. total ascent over seven miles, about two feet.
well my pics abit of a cheat but I suspect it won't be too far off that. It's the start of the short crossing on Kinder where the deep sandy gully should be so snow depth is probably 6-8 ft. I took it last year after running from Snake summitt in a blizzard on a HPM recce, I just got to Edale when the weather broke as I started to make my way back in a reverse Tankys route. stunning day in the end, the descent from Seal stones was superb, like powder skiing without skis
Don't get me wrong, it's very pretty, I like being out walking the dogs and so on in it - I just don't see how you can get a decent RUN in in deep snow!
"No-headtorcher" last night through snow from my house. Headtorch sat on my head but never got switched on as visibility was almost daytime - amazing
Had a bit of trouble in places where snow was knee-deep and the odd drift up to 1 metre deep, but overall was a throughly enjoyable experience.
Made up in some small way for the utter carnage that the snow is inflicting on the south-east.
Great headtorch / snow based run last night with the PFR crew around kinder reservoir.
I say 'run'... it was more like swimming at some points.
Amazing night to be out in the hills.
Tim
Aah, thanx for clearing that up DT. And there's me (admittedly fairly new to all this) thinking that fell running was about RUNNING on the fells...
...well, I've been out in the snow again today, found some absolutely amazing wind/snow sculptures along the south side of a drystone wall, where the wind coming through the gaps has sculpted the snow as it fell, into weird wave-like formations, put me in mind of that guiness ad with all the white horses. It was thigh deep and more in places, no chance of running through it...
Time to drag out our Scot of the Antarctic expedition over Bleaklow last february. Drifts you say? Pah, mere fluffy cotton wool balls around your ankles compared to the fooking great whump of snow we 'ran' through that day :)

Right! well I'm off for a 'run' right now then, along the canal and up onto Kildwick Moor and back. See ya'all later!!!
Ha haaa! Back again, having thoroughly enjoyed myself for an hour or so. And so did mi hound. The moor bit is frequented by dog walkers so the snow is fairly well trod down now, which makes for a nice surface to run on. Hardly needed a torch due to snow reflecting ambient light.
Excellent.
Was Ok in mi shorts tonight until I got to some deep stuff and then later fell over on an icy left hander. Enjoyed it though and no bugger else about!
Anyone seriously going to go out tonight ?
Its b*****y freezing round here. I'll try a few hill repeats but think it'll be on road rather than fell.
As long as it aint too windy, the cold doesn't bother me too much. I set if in three layers, gloves, scarf and hat, and gradually strip down a bit as I warm up. It all goes in a little bumbag as and when required.
I must admit, if I wasn't working tonight, a nice little trop around Kildwick moor would be tempting...
Apparently it's about -10 up here near Harrogate just now.
Last KCAC headtorcher before Christmas and no need for the torches! 5ml / 700ft-ish. Lots of snow still above Kildwick
Cunswick Scar with the boys from the Helm. Took the torch, but it was magical without given all the snow.
A cracking run with about 60 DPersfriends and family for the annual Carol sing song on the hill, Silly hats were optional but the carols were sung with much gusto.
Various route were taken back to the Sportsman where a curry had been laid on.
Good run out last night over Sharphaw & Roughaw from Stirton, with the Bedlamite crowd.
Few of the guys wearing Yaktrax to good effect.
I'm missing all the fun cause as soon as I finish work I get ill.
Will try not to start whining.
Farleton Fell and Hutton Roof from Puddlemire Lane tonight. A Bowland Bat Run.
Had an enjoyable head-torch run out in the fog on 29/12 with Hamartime, Stef F. Nice to meet Stef formally - apologies again for not being offensive, am still trying to think of an insult, perhaps that fat bald bloke you hang around with can think of one :D
