I once saw what I was told was the authenticated (by the Dr concerned) toe tag from Eddie Cochrans body after he died, and the coat the farmer put over him whilst they waited for the ambulance and the police arrived (yes I know it was Dave Jones of Dave Dee etc). This was in a now gone Bristol pub called the "The springer" there was a plaque to Eddie on the wall and pub regulars (it was a "Ted" pub) travelled out to Chippenham each anniversary for a service at the crash site.
I also worked with a charge nurse who lived next door to the taxi driver who drove the night he died, he reckoned Eddie offered him £5 to hurry up and so he could catch an earlier flight and it was too much money to turn down! Also my cleaning lady went to his last concert at the Bristol Hippodrome. As he died 4 years before i was born the nearest I got to him was once standing next to Jo Brown who played guitar on the last tour.

Merrylegs you beat me by about 20 seconds or so, I had my Santa hat on as well, which may have upset some people being beaten by Santa's, but we were both beaten by a big Fairy, the wings may have helped her, not that I am saying she is BIG, but by Fairy standrads she was big. I think Emm is getting faster training on that Stanner Stairlift thing.
PS Emm thanks to your technical help I have now got the time!!!
:o
C'mon all, hands up who else was beaten by a fairy???
Never mind being beaten by the fairy. How did you do compared to previous years?
I have just looked back and found that I was actually 3 mins quicker in 2006, didn't have the proper footwear, had only been running a few months, was considerably heavier etc etc!!:o
Ah well.......i'll just have another chocolate whilst I contemplate doing something about it!!!

Missed last year but beat my 2006 time by 30secs. I was intent on knocking more off than that but when you like food as much I do, 30 secs is an awful lot.
Well done steam pig and to all the other santas who ran, I'm be wearing my santas outfit on boxing day over at rawtenstall. Ho ho ho.
Me!:o
I must have been around a quarter of a minute behind Big Compass.
As for times, I've been three or four minutes faster in the past and finished further down the field. Most people I spoke to afterwards said their times were down by several minutes due to even more mud than usual.
My daughter did The Stoop as her first fell race and somehow managed to get round in road shoes...
I don't know how, though. I can barely make it wearing proper fell shoes.
Anyone got any 2000/2001 results. Can't find on the Internet and I can't find in my results folders. Just curious as to what time I did it in then.........If anyone has any I would appreciate a copy.
Got to be one for GrahamB that AdyPHP Code:

If there's something missing, let me know?
Should be beautiful and challenging at Stoop this Sunday.
Will Swoop be doing this one?
If so, have I just unearthed a Swoop, Stoop scoop?
Any advances?
Ill be there should be fun enjoyed it last year
Mudlugger did you do 2nd leg of caldervale relay for Trawden ?
Heavy snow forecast for the NW on Sunday - given that this venue attracts any bad weather going it could be interesting!
It's perishing in that car park on the best of days. Take your long johns!
Course has had to revert back to the old one! Does anyone know if it will be shorter/longer and any muddier?!
Shorter as straight out and back - potentially muddier as you get the same bits twice - thats if you are heavy enough to break the ice on top.
Car park will only be perishing if you can get the car up there
I'm planning to do this tomorrow but am worried about driving there. Is it safe to assume the local country roads will be icy death traps? I am crap at driving at the best of times let alone on snow.
Check the weather in the morning and make the safe choice.;)
There are plenty more races.:)
Any one know if the distance/ascent is still the same on the old route ?
