So if we are wearing a long sleeve thermal top at the start we need to carry one as well, or just one with extra long sleeves?

So if we are wearing a long sleeve thermal top at the start we need to carry one as well, or just one with extra long sleeves?
Will we fail kit-check if the only LS top in our possession is the one we're wearing?
No unless the RO asks for extra, Take one with you to the start...it can be left in the kit back for the finish...
From the Website..
Kit to be worn or carried:
Full waterproof jacket and bottoms (with taped seams), long sleeved top, head torch, emergency bag or blanket, hat and gloves, map (the Dark Peak map which just excludes Marsden is acceptable) compass, whistle and some emergency food is the minimum kit.
There will be a full kit check before Registration giving everybody the chance to make sure they have the required kit. There will be spot checks on route and at the finish. The FRA have made it clear that not carrying the required kit will result in a ban from all fell races and we will uphold that policy.
Minimum being the key word. Not sure if you were Racing at the time of the Famous Skyline Will but the front end of the race really suffered as they skimped on kit whereas those at the back realised they would be out for a while and took extra and were mostly fine.
The route is very exposed from Bleaklow until you drop off Kinder....
Says kit to be worn or carried, so all ok then.
Early Forecast for Sunday....
How windy? (On the summits)
Westerly, in the range 45 to 60mph.
Effect of wind on you?

How Wet?

Most precipitation western hills, although often light and patchy; snow on higher tops, but increasingly rain below 500m.

And in the valleys
4 or 5C.
I will have to pack my factor 30 by the sound of it
Westerley winds will help with the final leg though http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps0676084c.gif
Enjoy all!
I'll be hanging around at Crowden (for those within 15-20mins of the leaders) before heading around to Snake Summit to see as many people as I can through. Some food available but liable to run out.
Worth changing into road shoes at Snake Summit?
please take a note of RO requirements re extra kit...above that required by FRA
It was on your entry form and on the website...
Torch, Survival/blanket bag, extra long sleeve thermal Check out website for exact requirements and get there early so Kit check team aren't late for the start...:D
no excuses....!
I have got one but when I wear it they trip me up.
How bad do the weather warnings need to get before the race is cancelled?
(currently on Yellow warning for Wind/Snow/Ice.)
Don't mind running in nasty weather but I've got a long way to drive if it's a wasted journey!
Thanks
It would probably be road conditions (for MR to get to their positions) would be the governing factor rather than conditions on the hill.
Changing to road shoes?
I was going racing flats for the whole thing...
Watch out for the stiles then Zeph.
Hello All,
Do we have a start time yet? I was expecting some communication from the organisers via email?
Looks like it's going to be a day of life learning tomorrow.
830 as per the news page in the website
Cheers, I'd seen on here that it might start half an hour earlier due to the route been longer. Good luck to everyone racing and the organisers.
Was it this you saw?
The Cutoff's have been brought back 30 minutes (in line with the Start time) so Crowden is 11.30am and the Snake Road is 13.30 hrs.

There will be tea and coffee and possibly some cake at the start. Please remember some loose change as all proceeds will go to Woodhead Mountain Rescue. I have just driven through Marsden and it's wild but bright and fairly mild at the moment but dress to stay safe on those tops.
Finish line tents up.
Spine was delayed due to extreme winds
Forecast for tomorrow is dryish but strong cold winds
It's hoped it won't be quite this bad but...Quote:

Everyone was smiling this morning ... well, nearly everyone!
That was good fun in some challenging wind, especially up to Mill Hill.
if anyone picked up a blue Pete Bland bumbag from the finishing area (tent or male showers) please let me know as it could well be mine.
Thanks in advance
Just a little report about today's photo shoot at The Trigger. Images are loading up slowly. Sorry.

As ever, a well organised and well run event.
A somewhat longwinded blog of my race (as ever) can be found here.

Another great Trigger. Conditions were so variable, at times excellent, other times (Kinder) as bad as the forecast. Really enjoyed it!
I think Jasmin also finished in 7th place Steve.
