the lad we was bringing is out now ,he broke his ankle on a run .so we have to carry our own food now the little sod.;)
I'm in. Entered on line last night.
It's relatively flat- no real hills to speak of (although after 30 odd miles, each gentle rise will feel hilly).
It's definitely 50 miles rather than km though. With lots of soft / non-metalled paths, I would suspect it will be very hard going if wet...
even if dry 50m december is still fairly hard
Im starting to fret slightly about this one people.
Because its about to happen pal - its suddenly real
I can talk a good race, or should I say talk a good walk.
When the gun goes off the bullshit stops.
I'll be reit, we'll just wing it I guess
I've just entered this and it'll be my furthest outing yet.
should be, erm fun...
the good thing about these ldwa events are there not races unless you make them so there more social events, the idea being to finish. 50m is a long way but as long as you eat and drink on way round and dont hammer it early on you'll be fine notonurhelly..............:D
It's a very social event. Lots of walkers do it, so there isn't the overriding pressure to keep the pace up.
To be honest, I'm just going to jog round at gentle pace (famous last words).
I've always found that "slow and steady" works best on monster events.
Main thing is to keep your stops to a minimum, both in terms of lost time and also to stop your legs from stiffening up.
Keep eating all the way round. I always do. I'm planning a bucket (trick or treat style) so i've always got plenty of nosh to hand.
According to the website, as at 4th Nov (OK so a few weeks ago) there were 120 entries of which 91 were runners.
Lot of slow runners including me not long now im kipping in the car park
ive been experimenting with food tonight
been trying apricot shreddies , lovely:)
Last long run yesterday morning (at 5:30, per usual).
I did exactly a third of the RR distance, and I'm knack'd! Doesn't bode well.
so you doing rudolph's then. don't forget you are doing all the bag carrying on the 8th. don't overdo it.
I'm slightly concerned that everyone seems to have done their last long run before this event.
I have had a big day in Wales planned for ages for this coming weekend and dont really want to let this guy down.
I'll be reit wont I, I'll just have a very easy week after Saturday.
Yeah Im not fretting I'm pretty chilled TBH,
Im running this weekend on the Carneddau range. Very excited never ran in Wales before. Has anyone any insight into what this area is like?
Nah, just do it.
We can be tired together, I forgot it was Tankies this weekend doh
jamie i think you can safely say that there will be plenty of walking on this one.
if my legs give up im going to blame emmi for sure
she had better hope she can carry lots of food for me or that 100miler next year is out the window for sure.
just starting to wonder what madcap event she has planned for the future.
I reckon Brett had this one summed up right at the weekend.

I am going Mud Plugging this weekend ready for Round Rotheram, cause there is certain to be plenty of mud there.
Just been to recce the last bit. Thought it might be an idea to know where I'm going when it's dark and I'm tired. It's quite easy to follow actually, but I'm glad I went. The little map things are brilliant! Couple of times I was wondering if I'd gone too far - they're not to scale, but once you get used to it, it's pretty easy to follow. I'd only got a 1:50000 OS map and some of the paths are not marked on it. The written descriptions drive me mad at the best of times. But those little maps are just the biz!! And there are some lovely bits on the route. (just don't mention the industrial estate near the finish...).
