Just read the very start of the thread , Margaret , you do a brilliant job and without many devoted hours from people like yourself our sport would struggle, so BIG THANKs from me. Same goes for Brett and all of his hard work managing us rabble on here.

Got in touch with someone from the FRA just after New Year to check my membership had been renewed and she said they had not sent all the calendars out yet but it should arrive within a week or so.
Got mine today will be having a look through to see what's what :D

I got mine and the Hypothermia leaflet included is a great idea. If you are not a FRA member you won't get it of course. If the FRA didn't object then some race organisers might want to photocopy the leaflet and distribute it at their races?
I tried to announce the leaflet on this forum a few weeks ago, but, unfortunately, I gave it the title "Hypothermia" which had been used under the Health section three years ago, and consequently my new thread got merged with that one, and is now lost from sight forever.
You should be able to download a copy of the leaflet from the FRA website soon - you can also request one from me directly (Just PM me, or send me an email with your address), and some race organisers are already asking for a supply, so you may be able to get one that way.
One of the most important lessons to be learned from the recent tragedy is that runners must understand, recognise and be able to react to hypothermia. Nobody can do it for them!

Just want to add that after all the discussion the version of the rules as they appear in the book seems a lot better than some of the early drafts we saw. Thanks to everyone involved with it, not just for doing it in the first place but also for listening to some of the feedback. I dont want to restart the whole debate, I understand some discussions are still ongoing, but I do want to acknowledge the work thats been done so far.

I was referring to the popularity of the original hypothermia thread in the Health section. 115 posts, 11,163 views and counting.
Surely if advice is being given on an issue like this, then it makes most sense to gather it in one single thread rather than having it spread all over the forum in different threads and different sections.

Good to see the Hypothermia leaflet. A shame it repeats the old myth about 112 being somehow better than 999 - they're exactly the same.
There's a reference to "rule 9 kit" - but none of the various section 9s in the handbook seem to have anything to do with kit. Is this something that changed with the new safety rules, but not in time to correct the leaflet? Either way - can someone point me at the appropriate list?

Got an email last Thursday to say my dads Handbook had been dispatched but no sign of it yet
Arrived last Friday in deepest Yorkshire.
Already planning next year's trips. I notice the LDMT venue is in the handbook. Surely this can't be right though I'm quite pleased if it is a return to Borrowdale -plenty of LK ;-)
Arrived in Staffordshire on Friday too.
Had a pub meeting yesterday afternoon after the local Roaches Christmas Cracker and penned in the first dozen or so races.
Gotta fill the inside rear leaf results page at least this year :)
Arrived last Friday in deepest Yorkshire.
Mine arrived at the foot of Pendle last Friday too.
I reckon they must target the hilly areas first ~ quite right too
