Yeah, I was wearing trail shoes too. Totally useless in the mud. I said the b******s word a few times when I had to walk!

Yeah, the anni waltz sounds great, will have to bear that one in mind for next year. Yep 3p in just over a week, trying to get my head sorted for it as I've been a bit negative of late! But I just love the route!
Then I'll be doing a few 10k races and lots of long days out in prep for the Lyke Wake Race again. Hope it dries out a bit over the next week and we see a hint of summer!
P.S. I've been thinking about the carrot cake and how it would go very well with a nice glass of Pinot Grigio, seeing as AK reckons I'm too much of a wimp to drink his 'very strong' tea!
Hi AK, how are ya?
Yes I have experienced the thigh burner of Ingleborough a few times now. The first half will be the tester for me and making the deadline at Ribblehead, after that I'll be fine. Hopefully I'll have my vest in time!
Itwas nee bother gettin' back from the pub t'neet, but can ah just say........"ah telt yers t wear yer Walsh's for the race on Sunder:D
Off to check results noo:)
Fine Ta, just about recovered from my bones being shaken up on the rocky path to Roseberry. I also had trail shoes on, I did tell DJ to wear them also , no probs they were just crap on the muddy bits oops. Looking forward to catching up with NB's Dad at the Anni Waltz.
Great, thanks for the speedy service!
Anyone heading to Carlton Bank on Tues?
Me hopefully. I had a sore throat when Gisboro Moors was on but I love running up Carlton Bank. Again, look for a fat past-it looking guy.
I haven't got my entry in in advance but assume it won't be full so can enter on day. Anyone else up for it? Using this as a bit of pre Three Peaks training - in many ways very similar  (1) Capt Cooks (2) Roseberry Topping and Highcliff Nab. Oh and about half as long.
I'll be there in Pony green. Did the race last year and really enjoyed it. Another good part of the 3Ps preparation is that it alternates fast sections with the climbs.
Hopefully I will be going up. Whats the terrain like? The map looks fairly interesting.
Road, fields, woodland, moor, track, road, path, road, forest path, forest track, steps, moorland, blooming big hill, more moors, wood, road. :D
I'm probably wearing trail shoes (Wave Harriers), though I think I needed Walshes in muddy conditions last year.
Been for a run round part of the course tonight and it's bone dry. The only rain forcast is for some light rain on Saturday morning. Trail shoes should be fine. I managed a couple of blisters wearing my old RX Terraines since it was so hard and dry. The only really dodgy part is the path down through the woods near to the end - it's the same path that you have to climb near to the start. It's usually quite slippery and muddy. Forecast for Sunday is dry.
Thanks for info. Looks like it will be trail shoes then, with a pair of fell shoes in the car. In case of rain.
Yeah, the course is quite dry and I dont think any rain will make a difference now. Its a classic race and really excellent local event. I would still wear fell shoes though for the rock and the first ascent/last descent as it will be slippery. if anyone can marshal - still need marshals for Roseberry and Cooks if you look on the Nymac website and contact Dave Parry. Also remember if its hot this race is a bit of a killer - so dont take it lightly - I'm a midfield runner and I took out a good of the local stars a couple of years back in the heat on the last stretches. Map is also on website. See the rest of you at the 3 peaks
Martyn, you mention 'the rock': I'm trying to recall where there's rock on the course. Can you remind me please? (I'm not sure what to wear now!)
rock based path up to Rosebery and most of the way across the final moor
Thanks Trog. Impressively fast response! What would you wear?
I have always worn walsh in the past, but in these conditions (bone hard) I will probably go for trail shoes.
The race is not won and lost on the first/last hill. There is a great deal of running in between.
Cheers mate, you obviously like it :)
I don't have to pay royalties, do I?
There's been no real rain today and forecast dry and sunny for tomorrow so it'll still be bone dry and hard under foot and so trail shoes will be the order of the day for this race.
trail shoes or highlanders, i will go with the latter for tomorrow. great run but take plenty fluids with you.

Injury (the dreaded PF) kept me out of todays event, but I watched you all race, run, jog, walk, or crawl up Gribbdale.
How was it for you?
Bad luck sir.
It was a great day out (not literally fortunately, for me that will be Wasdale:eek:). I really enjoyed the run except the bit from Roseberry to Highcliff Nab which always seems to last forever. Great sprint finish with a guy who I couldn't quite catch although we both had to slam the anchors on to avoid running down Dave Parry:D
i agree dj great race today, i managed to get round in just under the 2hours but managed a matching set of blacked big toenails ( burst right toe yesterday on the allendale)
I must have been just behind you, Phil, as I narrowly failed to get inside the 2 hour mark. If I'd cheated (like a lot of people) and taken the road/track at Hutton Moor instead of the flagged route along the moorland path parallel with it, I'd have been half a minute quicker and inside the 2 hours.... bitter, Moi?
Still, a hugely enjoyable race, which remains among my very favourites. Good to see Ambrosia Kid, DeeJay and CJ from the Fell Ponies and Stainland's own Flightless Bird. Sorry not to have met Trog at Gribdale. I was principally a walker up the steps there, although I managed a few seconds of (half hearted) jog.
What I'd forgotten was the difficulty of Little Roseberry. As DeeJay commented, it looks nothing on the map, but hitting it after the descent from Roseberry Topping, it offers a climb of almost equal challenge.
Nice to put some faces to names yesterday. A really good day out. Roseberry looked stunning from a distance. Closer inspection made me realise what a great race this is, with so much differing terrain.:D.
Got round in in under 2hrs. Very pleased considering I had worked the night before.
Thanks to the water providers etc.
Watched you all with envy (and my daughter!) at gribdale and again at the finish.
Well done to you all.
By the way i saw and heard something i have neve experienced at a fell or any other race.
A runner (sub 100mins) began running up Gribbdale shouting "bring on the pain ,i am a F******g jedhi warrior" or words to that effect.
Apparently he carried on like this up to Roseberry topping and then stopped!
Whatever floats your boat i suppose .
Ps
If you saw a good looking balding vetran and his 4 year old daughter trying to run up gribdale .
I was 20 minutes faster than 2 years ago but bonked after little Roseberry. I was very grateful to grab a fistful of sweets out of a tin being held out by young lad (thanks kid) but then all I could concentrate on was chewing the gol darned things and a bloke I was tussling with left me for dead at Highcliffe Nab. I was disappointed not to do better as I was hoping to get one of the series categories in the final race; dream on:o
If you saw a bloke in an orange vest with new laces flapping round his ankles collapsing at the finish: that was me.
Having ran almost evry step 2 years ago I have definitely gone over to power walking up the steep bits, it's quicker. I ran out of power though. Maybe running up Pen Y Ghent midweek didn't help.
Great race again, Dave et al.

"one of the series categories in the final race;"
Which category over 45 50 60 65 70 75 ?
