probably for the best....
Thanks Clair. It has been chucking it down in Royston Vasey. It is a shame but personally I am a little relieved because I was looking doubtful for the race as I am really struggling with injury at the moment and I would have been gutted to miss the race had it been run. Lots of people will be disappointed but I am sure will understand your decision and thank you for all your hard work. See you next year. Please forward my entry fee to the charity of your choice (WMRT beerf fund?)
John
Hi Clair,
Wise choice and sensibly one at that. I had 49cm in my garden in sheffield this morning so i'd hate to think what belaklow and kinder would be like.
Thanks for the effforts to keep the race alive. would have been my first running so was looking forward to it... But that can wait till next year.
Happy for my money to be donated to Mountain rescue
Sorry to hear this Clair,
Ditto forward my refund to WMRT funds. Thanks for your hard work on this.
There clearly is no God!!
Thanks for all your hard work Clair, such a shame it can not reach a thrilling conclusion on Sunday but cancelling the race does seem unavoidable. See you next year!!
Thank you for all your hard with the race Clair. Please forward my entry to the Mountain rescue team.
Gravy Pud anybody ? :)
Thanks for all your efforts in trying to stage this race Clair, very disappointed but fully understand the reasons. Please donate my entry fee to Woodhead Mountain Rescue.

Thanks for all your hard work Clair. As you know I had withdrawn anyway. Please forward my entry fee to the local Mountain Rescue Team, if this has not already been done. I hope to do it next year.
A real shame, I was really looking forward to becoming an abomnible snowman! Thanks for your efforts, looking forward to next year.
Mrs SFG is pleased - we can get the tree now!!
donate my entry fee.
The Gravy Pud is currently on at the moment. This may change and a final decission will be made on Friday evening/Saturday morning. Obviously, a race like the Gravy Pud doesn't present the same issues as a longer event like TT. The next five days forecast is mentioning wetter weather come Saturday, but I will make the decission on the race at the times stated considering all factors, but most importantly the safety of athletes and marshalls.
Andi
Thanks for your hard work Clair, sorry the weather conspired against us. Donate my fee please and I'll see you next year.
Clare Griffin
Hi Clair
Again, thanks for all your hard work in organising this year. Was really looking forward to a snow fest but definitely understand why you've taken this decision. Was also slightly concerned as its a wee drive from western cumbria. Here's to the return of wet and windy conditions next year! Happy for my entry fee to be donated too.
Kate Apps
can I say thanks to all you band of Fellrunners. The team will look forward to receiving your generous gift.

Ps the team has been busy today, we have one section thats been involved in a major incident around the A57 just east of the M1 another is on standby in the Penistone Area supporting Ambulances, the rest of the team are also on stand by incase people become stranded.
Nee bother Ian a fiver is hardly killing me even though I am a Yorkshireman!
Funnily enough I have just e-mailed Clair and in that I mentioned that from the pics on the news it looks like WHMRT have enough to contend with at the moment.
Best of luck.
Looks like glorious conditions for the Gravy Pud on Sunday blue skys 1 degree

As many others have already said Clair, thanks for all the hard work you've put in. Roll on the 2011 race...
Feel free to donate my entry to the MRT too - as long as I don't see Brent spending it in the Huntsman :-)
Mark Pearce
Ditto to Marks comments.
Pass all proceeds onto WMRT and thank all the guys who are out right now for their efforts

We went out for a head touch run tonight around Kinder reservoir. There is sooooo much snow around great fun but really hard work.
Reckon it would easily add two hours onto a Tanky's time
Likewise Clair, donate the £ to WMRT..Thanks for putting together the 2010 Tankys, mother nature had other ideas this year tho'. See you in Marsden on the first weekend of December 2011 for Tankys 2011. Many thanks again,
Phil D
Just got back from a gentle jog up Wessenden & along part of the pw towards Black Hill from Wessenden Head. Good call Clair! Deep powdery snow had not consolidated despite the cold conditions. Nice to see DrPatrick on my way back down. Last time I saw him we choose different paths up WBC at last years Tanky's.
snake pass road still closed too
And so is the A635 crossing at the 'Isle of Skye'.
I am amazed you recognised me, we just passed for a couple of minutes last year, you have a good memory for faces.
I made it to the Soldiers Lump. It was fair hard going. The snow was so deep and soft. I am not a great fell runner I would have been happy with 4.5 hrs for Tanky's in good conditions but it took me 2.5 hrs to get to the summit of Black Hill. My earlier comments in the forum with these conditions adding 2 hrs onto my time was hopelessly optimistic.
I met a cross country skier at soldiers lump looking at him in envy as he slid off across the snow, knowing I had to trash back down to Marsden again.
Glorious morning though, blue skys sun in my face.!!
Were you the gent with whom I ran back to Marsden this afternoon?
If so, nice to meet you. Great conditions for it, but heavy going underfoot. With your description I'm glad I decided not to go up Black Hill. Awesome views at Wessenden Head and West Nab though.
I must admit I was happy to walk once we hit the road; was pretty tired myself at that point!
Twas magical on Kinder yesterday in the glorious sunshine and glittering snow. Not the quickest conditions on the 7 minute crossing as the snowmonster covered for the sleeping bogmonster.
Clare, also thanks for your attempts to get the race held. Please also donate my entry fee.
Mark Vogan
Will there be another Tanky's?
