Peter Thompson, the guy who does the English/British champs races each year has produced a Three Peaks DVD, just over an hour long,£15.
I think he has an advert in the fellrunning calendar/handbook

Anyone know when we can enter next years race. I think this years entries opened last November and was full a few hours later, but I suppose it'll be different next year with it not been a major championship race.
oh my oh my
dont take this personally but...
don't you think its a bit early....i.e. 6 months early to be thinking about the 3peaks race :confused:
who knows what you will be doing in 6 months, still keen, injured, lost interest etc etc
you will have to keep an eye on the race website like everyone else....
end of thread
Fozzy42,don't listen to SS - this race has been praying on his mind since the last PPP!!
ZzzzZzzzzzz......wha
Oh dear ginge Whinge has yet another low level dig at SS for getting a DNF at last years 3Peaks due to an unfortunate bout of injury. shame you gain such pleasure from someone else's misfortune
and why should i not pas comment GW ? this is a forum after all !
this early entry issue has had much discussion of late particularly for the 'bigger' races. and unless im mistaken next years 3Peaks is NOT a championship race, nor a world mountain running race. therefore entries should be back to normal
i now await with glee your next bout of injury GW so I may have some fun at your expense on this Forum. tiresome as it may be
By eck - did tha gerouta bed wrong way this a.m. It's just that I know you can take it matey. To balance things out you will be pleased to hear that I was dragged kicking & screaming round Leg B by Phil Hinch (sponsored by Stannah Lifts) at the relays last w/e and have the gorse scarred sore thighs to prove it. I have to take some comfort in the fact that I can't get anywhere near you in races......except of course when you blob in races...oops there I go again.......
Hope there is no gypsy blood in you - I'd hate to think you've just placed an injury curse on me. Can anyone sell me any lucky heather?
3 peaks website will be updated in the next week or two and entries will be open for the 2009 race on Saturday 25th April.
I have it on good authority.
You wouldn't expect anything less. I feel another caption coming on.....
A straight answer but do you believe it, Ady? It all sounded so plausible until the last word ;)
I'm with Fozzy on this. You should be able to ask a simple question without getting stick from other forumites. I am also thinking of doing the three peaks and was wondering when the entries open.
It is a friendly forum apart from the abusive gobshites who are more to pitied than scorned and best ignored, in any event.
Don't take offence - they don't know any better.
Treat them the way their childish behaviour suggests they should be treated.
Just don't bugger off because of some prat.
many thanks IDP...too true...and wharfeego
but as for negative and abusive behaviour
Fozzy42 "It was only a question smart arse!"
and......"didn't realise it had a few abusive gobshites"
FellShoeShuffler " Just don't bugger off because of some prat" etc etc
to the forum in general....have either Fozzy42 or FellShoeShuffler ever met me in order to pass such untrue comments....NO, therefore they themselves are being utter gobshites spouting nothing more than utterly abusive commentary. if a forum user cant point out the obvious re: actually looking on the race website, without suffering a mounting level of abuse. then all is lost
my arse may not be smart (but then who's is ?) but the rest of me certainly is. though you would know this if indeed you knew me :D
I too cannot understand why the original question was treated with such sarcasm. The entries came out in November last year. I was thinking of asking the question of next year's race myself but am glad I didn't bother.
There was no sarcasm in my original post on this thread
this forum, and it users are at times guilty of such...dare i say...idleness.
if an individual cant find the information (i.e. race entry) they require on the official website. then a simple email to the race organiser would, im sure, provide such information.
for instance.....
Forumite (pick one)...oh dear...i so want to do next years 3Peaks. but i dont know when the entry form will be available.....how will i find out
some time later after the Forumite has thought through their options
Forumite..I know... there is an official 3Peaks website which has all the information on. i will have a look on that....damn..the entry info isnt there.....BUT there is some information that says "All enquiries regarding entries should be made to Bryan Speight email: [email protected]" ....Great... i think i will ask on the forum instead
some time later after the Forumite has engaged in some, at times, abusive posting, he decides to email the race organiser :o
Forumite..Hi Mr race organiser..when can i get an entry form for next years 3Peaks
Organiser....F**K me your a bit keen aren't you.. its 6 months 'till the next race....dont you ever read the FRA Forum ;)
I suspect the person who made the original post did look on the website (as I did also). Having found that the website hadn't been updated yet he may well have thought "I wonder if any of those friendly chaps on the FRA forum know anything. I'll just start a thread, it will do no harm". Perhaps he didn't want to bother the race organiser who may well get bombarded with such enquiries.
Just a thought.
Anyone else find this thread surreal?
Fozzy42 - perfectly reasonable question, especially given that entries last year opened in November.
Here's the link to the website:
http://www.threepeaksrace.org.uk/
Although it hasn't been updated since April 2008, so who knows if the contact information is still correct.
Some races do have entries that fill up months before they're run.
e.g. Ben Nevis - entries: January, race: September.
Ah... the art of conversation lives on. Well in some people eh??
I didn't realise you were a Chumbawamba fan Mud ;)

I'm not idle, well not all the time anyway, but as a newbie I sometimes find asking questions like this are a good way to get chatting and to get to know people on the forum. Bit like chatting to strangers at a race etc - you sometimes ask a pretty dumb question just to get a conversation started.
As has been pointed out, the race entries were open in November last time.
Another point is that the race was full within 24 hours.
Unlikely to happen again I would guess, but I was only up to speed as I had already contacted Brian Speight and been advised that the website would be updated shortly.
A reasonable question to ask then, and as this forum constantly demonstrates, a great deal of entertainment can be had from such an innocuous thread!
I think it's fair to say that you shouldn't take to much umbridge from comments on here, even if they seem OTT.
Another 3 Peaks entry thread, is everyone going round twice next year:confused:
Blimey O'reilly.....just read the whole of this thread ..initially smiled and then thought some of the comments were bang out of order.
Forums are supposed to be where people can air their views and discuss matters of interest....not get barrated by some people who should know better !
Suggest the moderator has a word and settles things down....glad we finally got some info about the 3 Peaks though
Anybody got any info on next years Karrimoor?
believe a inflatable dingy is to be part of compulsory kit
