Still hoping to get away with my roadies
I think it's going to be wet, with showers forecast with some perhaps heavy. Perhaps worth packing some studs as well as the roadies :)
Anyway, it can't rain. I;ve done this race 5 times in the last 11 years and it has ALWAYS been glorious and i'm in this year so have THAT Michael Fish, how you like them odds?
Michael Fish!? Tsk, showing my age....
When I went round last Saturday the only really soggy ground was on the climb up Whernside. There you have to cross a beck at the bottom and then trudge through a fairly swampy bit just before the climb proper starts. There was also some swampy ground 2/3rds of the way up but, other than that, it was really dry. Rain is forecast for Friday night though but probably not enough to make too much difference and its looking mostly dry for Saturday (perhaps fog first thing and low cloud?). If your 'roadies' work with drenched feet from circa 10 miles in you'll be good to go I guess
Wouldn't want to be in road shoes for the Whernside descent! Or the Penyghent and Ingleborough descents come to think of it.
I'm now definitely confused re: weather. Met says it will clear rain Friday and clear Saturday. The symbols say otherwise! Shoes I'm now fine...bought Salomom S-Lab Sense 3, mainly 'cos I'd got confused between the different Salomon Sense range! :)
What are road shoes? They sound a bit dodgy to me! ;-)
Shoes you run on the road in, ergo X talons
Now it's saying rain and also heavy rain. At least it won't be too warm like the last couple of days.
Wake up on Saturday morning and see what the weather's like, failing that as I'm running round I'll occasionally look up and see what the weather's like, that'll be a pretty accurate weather report I think.
