faster pace and only he could supply that by doing the leading.
Me and my partner are total opposites, he's fast going up and I'm faster coming down. Our strategy was to pull each other along depending on the terrain. I often waited at the bottom of descents while he happily tiptoed down and likewise he made me feel knackered heading upwards, especially the last hill on leg2.
On the level, we always ran together chatting and was both eyeballs out on the handover within a foot of each other.
Last year I ran with someone considerably slower and it was more comfortable but he didnt enjoy it as he knew he was holding me up... its a tricky one eh.
What a great atmosphere at the change over. Well done to organisers.

There was no poaching going on with SHM- we leave that to other clubs!
Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
Just found out that Ilkley Ladies actually won, not Bingley...good job I changed my facebook profile!
Re: Calderdale Way Relay 08
I was pretty sure that Ilkley ladies had won. 7 min lead reported at end of leg 3. Ilkley were the only ladies to beat the mass start at Wainstalls - Bingley over 10 mins late. Then our Leg 5 pairing took another 10 mins + out of Bingley on leg 5. So that's a 20 min + lead. Bingley had a great leg 6, both teams in the mass start and Bingley came in 7 mins clear, which is maybe where the above confusion came from? But Ilkley must have had 13+ mins in hand overall, I reckon.

From what I have been told Ilkley won by 7 minutes, a shame that the results were not correct at the presentation but I guess its a pretty difficult task with calculations after the mass start etc. Anyway a good day none the less!
