Stew made!
Hope it goes well Brett.
I'll come over one time when the cohort is right.
Should be a good night in Connolly tomorrow.
A certain little electrician tried to talk me into coming out for an hour.
Enjoy mate.
Hmm,
"Turn left at the pork pies, straight on past dairy, hang a right before the biscuits and you'll reach the checkout, err, checkpoint"
What could possibly go wrong?!
Karl Gray the man to follow
And Tiger beer
Never touched a drop, Your Honour. You know me, Trevor: a race tomorrow, my body is a temple.
My body is Buddha shape

My body, your body, everybody move your body. (Sorry, just had to do it)
Have a good run tomorrow- everybody:D
If I'm able to 'Move My Body' in any significant fashion after the Blue Pig checkpoint I'll be delighted.
8th HH for me since 2003.
Well, I felt fine for the first four hours. I rather wish there hadn't been a second four hours.
Thanks to Brett and all the helpers.
A big thanks to the marshall at the final checkpoint who persuaded me to eat some pork pie. It must be some superfood because I seemed to go reasonably well until Leeshaw reservoir and then found amazing energy to run all the way to the finish and seemed to be passing runners as if I was Mo Farah from Penistone Hill to the finish (ok the similarity is a bit far fetched when you are a 61 year old near the back of the field).
Tough day in the saddle yesterday, but fantastic race as expected.
To be absolutely honest, I've been ill since Tuesday, and wisdom (and an agonising run/jog) up and down Haworth Main Street on Friday night was telling me not to race.
But as Joss Naylor said "if you ever want to do anything, and you've got some kind of ailment, you've just got to shrug it off".... So found myself on the starting line.
Despite feeling terrible from about 4 miles in, I grimly held on, and was only 3 minutes down on last year by the time I got to Heptonstall. Seeing as the final 7 miles last year was where I struggled, I fancied my chances of going faster. But unfortunately had taken too much out of myself, and unbelieveably I was 5 minutes slower than last year over the final stretch.
6hrs 19mins then. Not what I wanted before the race, but considering my state of health, I'm pretty pleased to run last year so close. Seemed to run more economically and kept the pace up without expending so much effort, and didn't suffer from any horrendous cramp. The hallowed figure of under 6 hours is definitely in reach!
Hello to Brett who I chatted to briefly at the start, hope your cold is better. Also I'm sure Stolly motored past me around 11 or 12 miles in, not to be seen again, so looks like you had a decent run. And I thought I saw some familiar faces at the whisky point, but not sure who they were, although the power of speech was evading me by that point...

At last, I've finally completed a Haworth Hobble. Last year I couldn't make the start line due to my knee problems and this year I was fearing a DNF or a very messy finish but actually, it went ok albeit a bit painful. What a great route! Makes me wonder why we don't go over that way more often. It was great to see some familiar faces, friends and new nice people. Thanks to Matt for putting up with my babble for the last 8 miles, you kept me pushing on.
The tot of whisky was a godsend but the fire in my belly ran out at the foot of the ascent to the monument. Never mind, it was good while it lasted. I think I finished in about 6.13 so not too far behind Stolly who had a fab run in under six hours. Its a great race and I can see why its so popular. Thanks to everyone who organised and marshalled it.
I was amazed to see whisky being offered. The guy I was running with at the time (Dave from Bingley) had some, but I steered clear. Perhaps it was just what I needed, as about 6 miles later the wheels fell off a bit and I had to finish at a fast walk.
Thanks to Brett and the team of marshals. The stew was great, thanks, as was the soup on the course. :)
Another grand day out, although it was tough from about 22 miles for me; struggled with cramp, tired legs but more importantly a lack of talent :D
Haven't done the distance since May last year, so just wanted to get round. The hotdogs were, as ever, most welcome although the lack of preparation in having the onions ready made me lose valuable second...cost me the race win that!
The biggest surprise for me though, was the whisky at Mankinholes....I'd been told there wasn't any this year so had taken preventative measures by bringing my own hip flask with Tobermory for that checkpoint....how pleased I was to see a choice of two there....so I had a nip of each! Strange really, since I wasn't exactly at the front (or anywhere near) but I think only a couple of shots had been consumed before I got to it.
Managed to trudge in in 5.26 which, considering I was thinking I'd be happy with anything under 6 I'm quite pleased with...'suppose I should do some training now really!
Cheers to all the marshalls, as ever, a sterling job.
Brilliant as ever - though I did miss the cake stall.
Thanks everyone.
On-line entry next year - and fewer runners
If there's a decent choice of single malts on offer I definately need to do this next year!! :D
