I don't think I've seen any splits for the Teenager, only the overall times. I can work out my splits from my GPS track, but that probably isn't much use to you.

Anyone know the best route up Robinson for this? Do you follow the valley or do you cut up the steep path and onto the ridge just past the farm?

Marvin's the man to ask. He sent me detailed route info a while back.
Follow the valley to the dam/small reservoir, and take a right there, up the grass between the screes. No specific path up, but all routes arrive at some rock steps on the ridge that require some good scrambling.
I was about the only one who went further up the valley a couple of years ago, but it avoids the crags and the congestion that goes with them and I recon I gained 100m or so, and quite a few places doing this.
I want to do this! - is there a number cut off Wynn?
I just need to get round to entering - or will there be enter on the day too?
sorry no entry on the day but you can enter online at

So you followed the beck beyond the reservoir, towards the head of the valley, and then swung right to climb and meet the ridge above the rock steps? How's the path beyond the res? I walked part way a couple of years ago and seemed to be getting more rocky and less runnable.
I was quering this too. I've never done this race before and was wondering which is the best and most efficient was up Robinson?
Once you get beyond the little waterfall 100 yards or so past the reservoir it stops being mildly rocky and becomes what route descriptions usually call "runnable" (but not by me!). You might end up running slightly further because the usual route bears SW after the rock step, but it's nothing like as steep. I had a look at the weekend and couldn't decide whether it would be quicker or not (certainly would be in descent I reckon).
It's not going to stop me being near the back whatever I do!
"...............It's not going to stop me being near the back whatever I do!"
I know that feeling! It'd take a brave man to head straight up the valley as the masses turn right up the 'usual' route!
Imagine the shame if it all went wrong!
Entry for the Waltz is now closed:w00t:
340 ish entered
ooops - unfortunately I hadnt actually got round to entering yet (despite reminder from penguin!)- are you doing swapsys - and does anyone want to do a swap?
Darn,
I missed the pre-entry also, is there defo no entry on the day?
I'm up there camping as well, if anyone knows of a number going can they let me know.
Many Thanks
Jamie
Will anyone be carrying water or is it short enough/enough drinkable streams not to bother?
I'm camping at Braithwaite Bridges and thinking of walking to the start. Can anyone tell me if the footpath that follows the east bank of Newlands Beck towards Uzzicar and Stair is ok? I think I saw on some walking/photo websites that this section was closed for repair after the flooding. Rather go cross-country than walk round the lanes.
Thanks, Jim
i've never done this race before. do we just turn up at the village hall and collect our numbers/undergo kit checks?
..........There's normally camping in the car parking field the night before and after the race. Why don't you stay there?.......
Already booked in. Heading up Thursday to hopefully miss the holiday traffic and staying til Monday so not a problem, and i'll need at least one decent shower during that time! Braithwaite Bridges looks to have decent facilities. Cheaper than B&B so suits me. Thanks anyway
Well, firstly you have to park the car (or bike) (modest charge), then walk the short distance to the village hall, then you have to have a look at Pete Bland's wares, then you register, then there's cake eating and tea drinking to be done, then there's the race and afterwards there's more eating and beer drinking required. When you've finished doing all of that, you can go home.
You will cross the stream from the outfall of Dalehead Tarn after the descent of Dalehead.
I've always just snatched some water from there.
You could carry a small empty bottle if you want to carry on drinking going up High Spy.
That's at somewhere around halfway so probably the ideal time for a drink too.
beer nah there won't be any of that your a highly trained pro fell runner.. you don't need beer or ale.. on the other paw i ain't a highly trained fell runner therefore i do need beer/ale..
Have we an up to date entry list please Wynn?
Tomorrow... i'm knacked and off to bed
Bah! I should have entered.
The path on the river bank was washed away two years ago so unfortunately its still really hard to get through - you have to climb through gorse and over big metal fences and trespass into fields which will now have young lambs in so perhaps not a good idea.......
