Today's Bike Ride

I dont think you could set up building frames now. You have to have a name. Building frames for other companies to put a sticker on yeah maybe and i can tell you that happens a lot.
I know an old boy who is in his late seventies that has all the jigs, kit etc and will one day pass them on. He builds about one frame a month for friends.
Jason rourke told me that whilst there is decent money in the top end frames like titanium and 953 say, the others not so much.
You can wreck a frame in 953 and titanium in 2 seconds if your not careful.

daz, i find that really sad. i love the idea of many artisans building fantastic bikes in their own garages. people making things again with pride. instead you find tons of mass produced plastic taiwan shit filling our lives. (plastic meant as an insult)

i wouldn't be surprised if it was true that most bianchi mass produced taiwan shit came from the same factory as tons of mass produced trek shit. and the saddest thing is we have to buy this crap because there isn't an alternative unless you have money.

My mate has set up on his own, and doing well. He just won an award for best track bike at bespoked bristol, and is constantly busy. So it is possible.

Ripped up the tarmac with a brisk 50 miler before the rains came inc a jaunt over the Rhigos! This Cervelo just has to be ridden, hard!!! And as for the lurking question about the R3 being a bit twitchy descending, complete nonsense I have to report. Very fast descending, accurate, and completely grounded under my 85kg frame. An absolute pleasure!!:thumbup::thumbup:

How about racing it Toff? Nice LVRC two day stage race coming up towards the end of July. Was my first ever road racing I did and loved it! Proper racing, but very good for a first timer! :)
