Have they solved the vibration problem that seems to affect a lot of 500s once they have done more than a few thousand miles?
that one is ok,,,its the standard car not the fat one.
Normal 500s are ok because they've stuck to the original design principles of a wheel at each corner and shedding weight. I've been waiting for Renault to jump on the bandwagon and make a new version of the 5 Gordini Turbo, the shape was iconic and you couldn't miss those arches tearing around such circuits as the Acropolis Rally.
That reminds me, i almost got one of these some years ago...

...but got a Porsche instead.
I've long hankered for one of the old Panda 4x4s
yes- a ragtop.
Peugeot are another company that have lost their way too. They were nearly bankrupt in 1985 until they got an ex rally co-driver on board, gave him a blank sheet of paper and told him to crack on. What he came up with was the T16, spawning the legendary 205GTI. Where are they now? Just copying Audi as far as i can tell, just without the speed.
Do you think you should start a new thread....The Masters Garage...;)
Very nice, proper old school Duke. I didn't know you are into bikes Wheeze. I am saving up for one of these http://suter500.com/menu/ Only 120,000 Swiss francs.
I love the smell of 2t in the morning.
So, after over 8 years, its time to dust off the cushions, throw open the curtains, re-stock the bar.....and, erm, well......oh, ok then, INSTALL WiFi !!! Only the can we attract the yoof and the bookfacers in.
Some folks have been moaning that there arent enough Laydees in this place. But if you peruse page one in 2008, you will see two eminent ladies were already regular posters.
So come on,one and all.Get posting. 2,000posts gets you membership!
Thought I'd have a look in, but the place is deserted. Wheeze is too concerned about his health these days, Travs is so busy training that he's never been in, Stagger is still recovering from his sunburn from Turkey, . . .
It's never been the same since they got rid of the snooker table.
And Timothy Taylor's Ram Tam
No worries lads and lasses.... we've had a defibrillator installed outside the unisex loos. Sanatogen and Becca are available in the lounge bar and I managed to coerce watneys into reinstating Red Barrel. We've got bar billiards, shove ha,penny, dominos and space invaders. So we are ready to open up for the new forum demographic!!
Fred Truman behind the bar and we could call it indoor league.
Oh aye, and Annie Walker pulling pints along side him! Dirty Den eat yer heart out!
Yee gods, village show today. Home safe and sound but it all got very messy.....
Life back in the 70s along with the music.
At least it's all downhill from the pub to your place!
With the Grandmasters lounge closing tomorrow I've taken the liberty of replacing the carpets, cleaning out the sheep poo and extending the selection of malts. So when all two of the active Grandmasters arrive, make sure the 2 leather chairs in the corner are reserved for them!
I have also taken the liberty of proroguing The Masters Lounge Executive Committee in order to ease the Grandmasters in without attempts to block their arrival. I know some of you will think the action of a tin pot dictator but I believe firmly in taking this great institution forwards to become the greatest and best Lounge in the world.
Very good 😀
Toffer OK'd my proposal. The Executive Committee resigned on mass, so stand easy Anthony. Why dont you join me for a tot of this 25yr Scapa malt I snaffled from the closing Grandmasters Lounge?;)
I might be in for a quiet sit-down this evening. Last night at the Tramshed in Cardiff to see Little Steven and the disciples of soul. Steve van zandt brought his 15 piece band to a relatively small venue, ears are still ringing but pure class all the way.
G&T on special offer tonight 🤣
I had a little chat with Boris last night and, in return for some help with an embarrassing rash, he has agreed to allow special dispensation for the Masters Lounge to remain open for the duration. We need to be discrete but in celebration there will be a malt whiskey tasting session this evening. All welcome!
Great news, but I have a little confession to make. As I thought the lounge was shut I nipped in last week and stole all the bog paper out of the toilets.
I'll bring a roll back (unused) and a packet of crisps if you will forgive me?
Havent you got a stash of Daily Mails next the reactor in your shed?? You and T'Missus could get handy with the scissors and cut 'em all up into handy sized squares. I'll hammer a nail into the bog wall for you to hang 'em and, hey presto, sorted and forgiveness all in one!
A bit of wisdom from my ex-legionnaire brother
Never cut paper for t'bog, always rip. Less chance of paper cuts...
The lounge being the place for exchanging useless information, if you take a sheet of newspaper from a tabloid, hold it by the spine bit and then rip downwards it will rip in a lovely straight line giving you a near perfect thin strip.
Learnt that years ago for making bedding for animals, very handy and recycling the Daily Mail into dog bedding seems appropriate :).
Pint of stella please Steward.
One pint or two?
Did you know there was a special offer on Corona this week? Buy one get one free! Brewery cant shift the stuff apparently.
