Always baffles me why they don't just tow them back and then sink the boat.
Frogs will be pissing there pants laughing. Probably even supplying the boats

Go job we are on our way out of Europe.
The French have been filmed escorting these boats into British waters and "handing them over" to our Border Farce who then bring them to Dover where they are whisked away by a fleet of waiting coaches to hotels around the country.
Do the BBC/Channel 4 report this. Do they hell. They are part of the problem.
Does my head in.
If they want to escape there country fine.
But don't travel to the far end of Europe to seek refuge.
We are already full without having more draining our system.
BFH as Jim Bowen used to say.
If the French spoke English, offered free hotel accommodation, money to buy food, free medical and dental treatment then perhaps this would solve the problem.
I love reading some of the bullshit that people come out with on here. Stagger suddenly thinks us leaving the EU will stop illegal immigration and Big Fella poos poos the French for not speaking English, not having a largely national insurance funded, free Health Service (they do) and for not taking in their fair share of refugees (which they also do). France has a very large immigrant population as do Germany, Sweden and others, including us obviously.
As for having absolutely no compassion or concern for people upping sticks and risking everything to move in the hope of a better and often no longer persecuted way of life?? What the feck would you lot do if you found yourselves in similar circumstances?
And don’t come out with ‘we should look after our own first’ bollocks as I can’t imagine you have any compassion for anybody else either
#alllivesmatter well, unless the Daily Mail suggests that actually they don’t really eh?
Hell, they’re even the course of tail-backs on the M25 now
I don't really understand what is driving these people to come to the UK from other safe countries where they could seek asylum if it's not the attraction of speaking English or the government openly advertising the benefits they can expect to receive even if their asylum claim fails.
I agree we have a duty to help those in genuine need but not those who just want a better life, who doesn't.
And as for compassion I donate to Shelter quite regularly as I don't believe our own homeless, of whatever background, have as many rights as those choosing to cross the channel illegaly.
Have you tried to register with an NHS dentist recently?
Has anyone seen a breakdown please of which countries these people are leaving behind for the chance of a free scrape and polish, plus a few nights in the local Ibis Budget?
Yeah, it's not like they can get benefits or anything in France....
Oh...
https://www.asylumineurope.org/repor...tement%20level.
Who said this?
"All lives matter.
No discrimination.
Justice equally for all.“
Couldn't have been anyone here, surely?
Perhaps they're looking to settle in a country outside of the EU?
Should have claimed asylum in Turkey then!
Stagger will tell you that it is a safe country.
Haha this is absolutely brilliant Dave. Clearly some one who is in reality probably more than a bit racist is blatantly using one argument for one situation and then dumping on the very same argument from a great height when in another situation. (Go on admit it guys, it’s all about not liking black and Asian people really isn’t it?)
Incorrect AGAIN.
The only ones I dislike are law breakers.
Follow the rules and we have a good society.
Become foul mouthed, threatening, armed etc and there is my problem.
We have proper ways to migrate to different countries.
I asked a local in the bar last night why asylum seekers don't stop in Turkey.
His reply was "we are a poor country and don't give government handouts to these people"
"They head for the richer country where they get money and housing for nothing"
"The one's going to the UK are some of the ones who entered Greece last year "
Turkey is a lovely safe country with plenty of nice people.
That's why I keep coming back.
Unless you happen to be Turkish and support the opposition. https://www.hrw.org/world-report/202...hapters/turkey
I have a Turkish friend who lost her job as a university professor, simply for signing a petition.
According to the UNHCR:Quote:
I asked a local in the bar last night why asylum seekers don't stop in Turkey.
"Turkey currently hosts both a population of over 3,5 million refugees from neighbouring Syria and several hundred thousand asylum seekers and beneficiaries of protection of other nationalities, most principally originating from Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and Somalia, among others."
so no, no refugees there, all heading to the UK for free dental care.
Quote:
They were certainly hoping to but I suspect now that they can see what a shambles it is they are having second thoughts.
You got it backwards, as of course you would.
The European parliament committee voted to suspend the accession talks with Turkey in 2019.
Don't let the truth get in the way of facts
It’s quite simple. They come here to work and send money back and/or repay the traffickers, and it is very easy to work without papers in the UK. Everywhere else you need official papers and you will not be employed without them. Here, you can wash cars all day for a pittance, hand most of it back to your gangmaster, go home to your bedroom shared with six others and maybe just manage to send a few quid back once a month. It’s why most of them are young, fit males, the breadwinners of the extended family back home. Ask why so many refugee children “disappear” from care - picked up by the traffickers again to do god knows what. We shouldn’t make it any easier for the traffickers to ply this evil trade.
Not sure how we have gone down this route on the CV thread, but such is life on the FRA Forum :D
Immigration, like many other issues, is an issue that is very hard to argue against without being labelled a racist, a Little Englander, a Daily Mail reader, a Tommy Robinson sympathiser...
I'm not against immigration or migrants themselves, but I want a process in place and I want it managed effectively.
National borders are important.
We have a census every 10 year to help Government plan. In the last 2 decades we have had circa 6 million increase in UK population which is driven by migration, so almost 10,0000 for every parliamentary constituency.
We know that isn't evenly distributed. Scotland for example, according to the SNP has an emigration problem.
That means some areas really are under extensive pressure.
The current situation with 100s a day and almost entirely young single men, coming over in boats needs to be stopped. We have a contract given to Serco and 2 other companies to house these channel migrants and others like them getting in, and they are block booking complete hotels, and mostly large posh ones, as the expense of the taxpayer.
It's the legit way of making money from illegal people smuggling.

No worries, alcohol kills it.
So this poem, kind of well known nowadays I guess so feel free to yawn disinterestly if you’ve heard it all before, is not just a about the two ways people look at refugees but is also pretty representative of the massive split in U.K. society right now:
Refugees
They have no need of our help
So do not tell me
These haggard faces could belong to you or me
Should life have dealt a different hand
We need to see them for who they really are
Chancers and scroungers
Layabouts and loungers
With bombs up their sleeves
Cut-throats and thieves
They are not
Welcome here
We should make them
Go back to where they came from
They cannot
Share our food
Share our homes
Share our countries
Instead let us
Build a wall to keep them out
It is not okay to say
These are people just like us
A place should only belong to those who are born there
Do not be so stupid to think that
The world can be looked at another way
(now read from bottom to top)
So are you a top downer? Or a bottom upper?
It’s no coincidence to me that most brexiteers and Tory voters (and you can probably throw in anti face mask wearers and coronavirus deniers) are top downers ;)
