Next time carry on into holmfirth, go along woodhead road until you reach holme, take to left the digley reservoir and head back on to Isle of Skye road. Nice little climb to be found there. Once you hit Isle of skye go straight over in to meltham then take the left to go over wessenden head, another cracking little climb that'll bring you back onto isle of skye then left back to dovestones.
Have you done any hill reps on the chew reservoir road?
Yeah I do on my neighbours mtb...3 times from the bottom and try and get under 50 minutes
Must have put something special on my weetabix this morning, 30 miles (well 28.9), 2700ft of ascent in 2:05....will get under 2 hours

I wouldn't do Chew Res reps on a road bike as the gravel and 'speed bumps' on the way down could shred a tyre I think- then again I'm a newbie and it might stand it. Hybrid bike would do
It's been a while since I was up there but from what I remember it should be ok. Can't be any worse than the col de finestre and plenty of people ride that beast.

Just trawled some pictures and the speed bumps are pretty frequent so could be a little problematic. Funny I don't remember then from when I was last up there.
No road ride for me today as didnt have time. Left it late but jumped on my rollers for a very tough 95mins in the 12 sprocket. Bloody hard
Was outside on the drive and it started raining fairly heavy which made the rollers fairly slippy.
Tough after last nights fell race
