Cheers Alf!
To be honest though, I don't really fancy 92 miles the day after Borrowdale - with the state of my legs, the state of my head, and the terrain it goes over, that'll mean around six hours on the go, which is about double what I'd planned! Reckon I'll stick to something a bit shorter, staying around Borrowdale/Buttermere.
Might need someone to look after my dog (he's a westie),while i run could anyone help out ?
I've got spare entry. If anyone wants it, give me a ring on 07582514339.
Anyone know if there is a start list / sheet anywhere for this year's race?
Thanks for any help...
Matt
The route for the Honister 92 avoids all the passes until the finish, which just happens to be on top of Honister Pass, so after Borrowdale, its just an undulating ride..........mind you there are some big undulations!
No problem Steve. Have a great run and let me know how you get on. Looks like you may have a few thundery downpours to add to the excitement. You can buy me a pint if you make it up our way for the Viking Chase in September.
Cheers
Right just carrying out last minute preparations....................this involves eating a large plate of pasta then I'm of to me Mum's for veg curry, chapati's & rice..........I'll be the one waddling to the start line........:)
See you in the morning folks.
I was out then in then out and now I'm definately in. Getting the gear ready and full to the brim with pasta and rice pudding! Roll on tomorrow!
Any news????
Daleside has just tweeted....the Noor won, that's all she's mentioned.
Well done The Noor.
What happened to Ian Holmes?
Wow, looks like it was a good race at the front. Good job Ben!!!!!!!
Well done The Noor, some other good runs by forumites, daz h finishing well up. Fell Pony Daz the Slug finished:thumbup:
Bad luck Manhar, keep smiling though:)
What a great day that was, it was dry and the visibility was good, despite the forecast
He hurt his knee quite early on Scott, but it was quite nice (no cloud really) so he wanted to poddle on. Good on him, and a great race overall - all 3 of the 1st finishers were under 30 (I think), and a fab win by Ben - must be great to win Wasdale & Borrowdale in the same year. Billy Bland says he was stood at Honister and Ben winked as he passed - clearly he had plenty in the tank, and he knew it!!!
what happened to RhysFR?
Bit of a report here, with a take on the race from Ben...

No worries Steve - I had my own mini epic adventure from Scafell onwards.............:o
Guess which Chump went walkabout on a clear day no less - slithered down the scree slope then POW, must have had a senior moment big time (will be a V45 week after next). Quickly realised I was on the wrong side of the mountain - Styhead tarn & Gt Gable were so near yet so far. Had to scramble / contour to get back on track, crossing Piers gill before taking an almost direct route up Gable (who needs a path pah !). Got to the top in 4 hours dead & realised I wasn't going to get to Honister inside 30 mins, especially as I was unsure of that part of the route (ahem) so took the sensible decision of retiring. All good fun.
Good to see the usual suspects throughout the day including MUD & Sonja for the walk back from Styhead - the chocolate cake was delicious :).
Was feeling quite good looking at my split times eg got to Scafell in 2:25 & even summiting Gable legs felt Ok. I'll be back next year - I'm going to nail this sucker..........

Well done the Noor - makes me especially pleased as my one claim to fame in fell running is that I beat Ben in the Fairfled Horseshoe in 2009 by half a minute (I won't mention that he also did the Keswick Triathlon that morning though!!!).
Thanks Mike :)
This is my best Borrowdale photo.
There is a prize for anyone who can guess which part of both the body and the race route...

Well done, everyone. It was a nice day which just goes to show how much to rely on forecasts. Unfortunately, it wasn't for me yesterday and I retired having made the decision at Bessy Boot but carried on to do a bit on my own before descending back to Rosthwaite. It was a rare treat to see the winners coming in, though. They looked so fresh. Next year I'll be back and properly fit.
A fine day out (despite my best efforts to descend from Dale Head to Littletown - d'oh), thanks to the organisers and marshalls. Always nice to get a word of encouragement from Joss at Styhead and a bonus to be seen off up Bessyboot by Billy Bland. Thanks Deejay for the craic on the way round. PB next year for me ;)
