Didn't do the circuit race last night, as still feeling too ropey, so another rest day and another early night... Went out for a quick 35 minute blast to try out the tub I have stuck on as well as how I feel... Legs were very heavy... But feeling a little better yet again, so still going to give the weekends stage race a go... It starts with a 6 mile uphill TT, I will soon find out if I am up to racing that way... and in a safe way too...
22 miles all hills Warm up at spin which is climbing with a fair bit of tension for 20 mins standing50 min spin session10 mile ride homeFelt not to bad after the fell race last night
Gotta do some cycling tomorrow. The only stuff I have done this week is with Eurosport and ITV4!
Indeed toffer this is the true dilema of the bikie. You can spend each night watching the tour which does nothing for your fitness but wonders for your enthusiasm. I dont normally miss a days viewing of most races. But you have to limit your viewing time. The ultimate answer has to be a tv in the shed so you can ride the rollers whilst viewing. Back to normal next week I can pack my polka dot slippers away
50 miles for me at a very steady pace. Called at evans cycles for some shot blocks and innertubes. Oh one of the nice sales assistants just prepping a customer with a new bianchi bike. One of his linesI can assure you sir this bike is set up perfectI think not. The customer then asked if he could have some pedals to fit his cleats. The evans assistant had been sitting him on the bike with asics running trainers on with get this , the heels of his feet on the pedals. You do have to wonder
Tom, good going mate! The only way to get stronger is ride with stronger riders... Next time, you won't blow yourself up and stay with him :)
I managed to race today... stage 1 & 2 of my 3 stage race.... The hilly TT showed that my avergae hr was 169, it went well into the 170s at uphill bits too, so I decided I must be well enough to race, regardless of my tooth infection and antibiotics! So raced the afternoons RR. Not as strong as I would have been, but was able to go with a couple of breaks... However, missed the winning one and in the end finished in the bunch with no oomph left for the final sprint... Mind, I doubt I would have lasted, they were fast boys! It was sunny and I enjoyed myself so all good!
Legs a tad sore though... Have had my bath, now food, then an early night and see how I feel tomorrow morning... If I haven't recovered properly, I won't race. Don't want to set myself back on the infection healing path...
Awesome! Or should I say awestruck? New coach suggested I'd come out on his regular ride with him this morning... I got a bit nervous when all these pro's and elites started turning up :w00t: Managed to hang in ok, apart from a rather embarassing hunger knock about 5 minutes from the cafe, when I started to go backwards :(
Anyways, 5 hours at an average of 20 mph in the Mendips!!! I am now shattered and in the bath... but brilliant ride :)
3 hrs on the bike and 50 min spin session.Had to stop at starbucks for a latte on the way home.
