Think I caught a fleeting glimpse of my first swallow in the Towy valley.
I checked our robins nest today, at ground level in a bank (in our garden), it had a full clutch of eggs 10 days ago - nest been pulled out and destroyed - could be anything, pair of resident jays, corvids, stoats, fox or chief suspects.........the neighbours 3 cats which hunt through the garden .
Two young deer in the field opposite our house, by the time i got my camera they'd gone:rolleyes:
Two seperate Roe deer, or the same one twice!!! :)

Running just past the Curmudgeon's house in Glusburn spotted 4 Heron in a field. Then two minutes later another heron in a field.
Went running the other day and spotted 2 heron in different places in the middle of Skipton.
Flip, need a cull soon :)
Having said that they were so still they might well have been plastic!
Anyway I'm expecting a delivery of pigeon spikes in the next couple of days... and once installed on the chimney pot above the bedroom ~I should get a full nights sleep.
If not come round and cull him/her!
Should have gone to specsavers and asked for dick dastardly and muttley:p

Just seen a Salmon swim passed my conservatory window.....it really is wet up here!
Went canoeing on Derwent Water the other day and saw Sandpiper, Goosanders and Mergansers. Also went up Dodd Wood to see the Ospreys, got treated to a fantastic fly past and display for a good couple of minutes, also saw female on nest (...very blurry and a long way off!!).
saw a magnificient hare at selby.
later in the day saw a very sad sight of 2 dead badgers at shibden valley killed by the train.
Seen a few dead badgers lately!! :(
Today i saw a cow suffer a compound fracture of the front right leg whilst the farm lad was moving it and its mates out of a field and along the road near Malham Tarn. All of a sudden the lad appeared absolutely distraught; completely overcome with grief. The cow at the back had somehow snapped its front leg in half between the ankle and the knee and was still trying to keep up with the rest with the broken end flailing around like a snapped branch. I later asked the farmer bloke at Buffers Cafe if it would be operable; he said he had never before heard of such a catastrophic injury befalling a cow and that it would more than likely be shot as soon as possible.
Heard the first cuckoo of the year when I was up on Farleton Knott [south Cumbria] this evening :-) and later a dead badger at the side of the road :-(
A Brown Owl in the woods near Norland Moor, first one I've ever seen round here.
A dozen of so yellowhammer, a dipper, two common sandpiper, buzzard, goldcrest and first cuckoo of the year this weekend
Between Burley Woodhead and the Cow and Calf, 3 red kites. I haven't seen them on Ilkley Moor before, although I know there's a few round Harewood, Bolton Abbey and so on.
My first swift of the year this morning. Summer must be here!
We've had a badger in our back garden the past couple of evenings. On Saturday I went out to bring my smelly shoes in off the patio, and there it was just shuffling around. It turned and had a look at me but didn't seem too bothered before wandering off. Then last night I had a look through the patio door/window and there it was again with its head right up against the glass. I knocked on the window to get its attention, took a couple of photos and it just carried on cleaning up below the bird-feeders.
Hope we don't all catch TB!
Great day today for firsts, out for 8 hours on the hills and saw (pretty sure) first Pied Flycatcher of 2012, first cuckoo (heard but not seen previously), heard first Cricket Warbler - couldn't spot the little beggar though,
and first pair of Swifts. Not bad!
Seen swallows at work tonight. First time for me this year. Don't get too excited though - one swallow doesn't make a summer!
Dotterel on High Street plus Wheatear, Meadow Pipits. No Eagle tho!!!
.....Oh! and a pair of Ring Ouzel below Kidsty Pike. :)
