Loved it.
Thanks to Wynn, family and helpers.
Nice to see everyone as well. :)
What a race! Weather looked like it might spoil things on our drive to the start but it cleared up just in time. Views were superb all day.
To be honest found it quite hard. Somehow forgot that from Dalehead Tarn to Catbells is not exactly flat and didn't really keep enough in reserve. Definitely need some more training before attempting TWA!
Was my first AW race but won't be my last. Great atmosphere and a great race.
great race managed to drag myself round in approx 2hrs cold felt a little better today prob suffer for it in the week!
thanks to all that help make this happen.
nearly missed start gassing at the back of the pack looked round and everyones off and running up the field ha ha..
nice to see mr naylor out watching.
p.s thanks for the report and video.
I was happy enough with my run today, a big blister slowed me down on the final couple of miles and spoilt the final descent. My overall time of 1:59:14 (31st) was bang on my target (sub 2) so I'm not complaining at all. It's a great race and a great atmosphere, I'll definitely be back.
My 3rd AW and my slowest, but PPP next week so not killing myself today. Great race as always. The weather smiled on us and well done to all involved. Thanks to all the marshalls on the summits as well and all the other volunteers.
Have to say big up to WPette (Beckie) for taking the Senior race at only 18. I thought it would be interesting to see how she would go and having set off to have "a training run" she got a little competitive when told she was in the group of leading ladies.
She paced herself fantastically well and ran with full kit for the first time and has never raced over 70 mins before. Proud as punch for her to win such a Lakeland Classic.
Well done to her. What a race to pick for your first foray over 70mins eh?
Really enjoyed yesterday and many thanks to the marshalls and all involved.
Thankfully the weather held up - actually warmer than predicted. Quite pleased with my time though lost a few minutes coming down off Dale head. Must do a recce of this........!
Chuffed with result managed to knock 10mins off 2010 time and 30 places ended up with 1:56 just ! happy i got under 2 hours and 25th .Big thanks to all the marshalls cracking race
Good run Andy. Not sure what time i did yet, never really worry about it when doing a event for the 1st time. Top route tho-but still not sure your description of "it's a piece of piss" is 100% accurate!
Quite glad i missed the teenager start after seeing the master heading for his knees. The waltz is a lovely run many thanks to all involved.
Thanks Steve and Wynn and all your helpers. Great
day and so glad the weather held up. Meal at end was v. nice as well.
What a belter! 2 and a bit hours has never gone so fast. A cracking race and my first in the lakes. I was spurred on greatly on two occasions and both at points when, believe me, I needed it. Firstly by a bloke 3/4 up dale head who had put out some jelly beans. Thankyou sir! But nowt spurrs you on more than engouragment from Joss Naylor.
Thanks to RO and marshalls.
Where was Joss? I somehow missed him. Typical
He was just over the stream after Dale head tarn.
Thanks to all involved. Fantastic race(s) and a great event.
The organisation on this race is superb, from the kit checks, to the marshalls waiting for hours on the tops to the free beer and veggie chilli at the end many thanks !
I'm in full agreement freckle, I really like the idea of a brief kit check right before the start. It took very little time and meant everybody had at least a basic level of kit with them.
I'm currently deciding whether it would be plausible to run it next year as well, with only a week to recover before the 3p's. Loved it.
I'm sure results will be along soon, but I was wondering if any pics of AW were out there. We are usually spoilt for choice.
I saw a few out taking pics but have only come across a few on the net so far via facebook. There was someone out taking photos between hindscarth and dalehead but I've not seen them online yet.
I'm sure I heard that chap shout he was a SportsSunday snapper, but haven't seen anything on their website yet! Thanks to all involved in putting on a great race - will be back for more I'm sure! I'll see on Saturday if it was ideal preparation for the 3 Peaks....!
For some reason I thought sportsunday were up there too but I can't remember where I heard it.
I'm also pretty sure he shouted out my name as I went past, which happened a few times on the course from people I didn't recognise (or didn't have time to recognise). Whoever it was, thanks for the encouragement :)
Enjoyed the route and the very runnable terrain of this race,
although I completely nailed my calf at least three weeks off me thinks.
I reckon next year with no injuries I coul get near the two hour mark
Think the photos might be lost? :D

Cheers Wynn :)
So we just need all the photographers to do their stuff as well now.
According to my Garmin 610 AW is 11.84 miles and, more importantly I feel, 4436ft of up.
