I'm very much enjoying the in no way sensationalist tone of this article.
Wasn't the forecast shocking last year and turned out not too bad? Pretty wet maybe, but nothing too severe. I don't think you can take the forecasts too seriously until a couple of days out.
Good luck to all those running, I'm putting my feet up this year!

It's looking to be quite balmy - warmest so far and 15-20 deg C HOTTER than in 2010.
Looking at the latest forecast it looks as though the worst of any rain will be towards the end of the day for an hour or two. The racing snakes will already be home and dry before it arrives.
I'll be leaving for Askham before long and getting registered tonight (after 8pm). If anyone will be in the Queen's Head for dinner I'll see you there.
At least the wind will be behind our backs by then. Assuming we make it that far!
