Enjoy yer fishing and catch up to blow the froth of one when you get back.
Just been out for a short ride around Tockholes area. Grand-daughters 2nd birthday today so off for a visit later.
Hopefully catch you for a pint later Trevor.
Made it back, so I should have time for a couple. Timmy Taylor's it is.
As a private members club, will we be exempt from the 10:00pm curfew next week Trevor?
No exemption in here Richard.
Apart from it being for masters ONLY.
Keep the numptys out.
I'm not sure they like our company anyway Trevor.
That's clear, thanks
Just getting my last couple of evenings after 10
I managed to break in ok 🙄
Bouncers!
Just had a quick read of the Compliance Committee guidelines. It seems that there is no allowance for goading, prodding, trolling or other unseemly behaviour in the Masters Lounge. Accordingly, this is to cease forthwith. No names, no pack drill for now. But you know who you are. The Committee is alert to any further infringement and perpetrators will be ejected to the pub!
A pint of Jemima for me, builders finished today and started barrowing several cu/m of rubble and soil, worked up a thirst.
Put one in for Stagger, I'll pass it through the window to him, he's hiding in the bushes.
Don't know who will do the washing up now:(
There's a whisky and ginger chaser for him as well moley. Think I'll get a Highland Park for myself...need a mellow moment!
Any Yam Yams get in here? Only heard the expression this week and had to come home and look it up - it makes perfect sense.
But do any of you come in here for a drink?
A pint of Bathams for me!
I'm not a true yam yam but my maternal grandmother's side are proper Black Country coming from Dudley, Gornal and Bilston. Although, I was born in Lichfield (parents lived in Cannock the time), I'd count myself as a Brummie as I grew up there and have lived most of my life either within the city or nearby. The Black Country ties are strong and probably explains my support of the Baggies.
This is turning into an education, Dee Dahs also new to me (google helped again). But the lounge welcomes all, whether or not we can understand each other.
For a part of 2019 i was working from a Black Country office.... On the industrial estate opposite Merry Hill... would that be Brierley Hill, Dudley, or Stourbridge....
The Black Country is certainly a unique area... the traffic though
I used to work in Dudley opposite the castle zoo, is that still there? Friday lunchtime was always to one of the local hostelries, Bathams, Holdens, Ma Pardoes, etc.
Hey Pete, I lived in Lichfield for 3 years as a kid. Did you live there or just born there?
BigFella, happy memories of Dudley Zoo. Used to go there with the cubs. Chairlift up to the castle on top!
I'm digging out my bottle of '95 Jura (last time I raced there). Anyone joining me??
I remember going to Dudley Zoo on a school trip from Mid-Wales in the very late 60's. Don't remember too much about it other than it was a long way and I couldn't understand a word anyone said ;)
A few years later, by the mid seventies, I was fluent in Brummie as they had invaded Mid Wales!
Some of our friends lived in Stourbridge for a few years. One time when we visited them, as we were driving through Dudley I felt the need to explain to my wife why this part of the country was known as the "Black Country". It just isn't very black any more!
I was just born in Lichfield - never lived there. Far too posh!
I have memories of visiting the zoo and being scared of the chairlift. I also remember some rather sad looking flamingoes. Best part was the fun fair - never really liked the animal bit.
I'll be finishing off the Scapa later. There's a couple of drams left and after this last weekend, I think it's about time we saw that off.
My birthday last week produced bottles of Bowmore, Jura, Penderyn, Cardhu and Christmas is coming to stock up further 😀.
Unfortunately the current situations are encouraging excess consumption - though tonight is one of our abstinence nights 🙁.
You will be the first I call upon if ever I do .
Wheeze will remember the gentleman fell runners (steam bunny event) all stopping at our house for whisky tasting and they were riding bikes!
Ah yes, GFRCEA! ....Gentlmens Fell Running, Cycling and Epicurean Adventure. It just so happened that not long after whisky tasting at chez moley we faced the fastest prolonged downhill cycle of the whole event. Wheeeeeee!🤪
They can be pretty dark, but make me chuckle at the same time, like Bottomless Hole:cool: https://youtu.be/OperfSW9S9I
My name I don't remember, though, I hail from Ohio
I had a wife and children, good tires on my car
What took me from my home and put me in the earth
Was the mouth of a deep, dark hole I found behind my barn
We'd been filling it with garbage as long as you could count
Kitchen scraps and dead cows, tractors broken down
But never did I hear one thing hit the ground
And slowly I came to fear that this was a bottomless hole
I went out behind the barn and stared down in that hole
Late into the evening my mind would not let go
So I got out my ropes and a rusty claw-foot tub
And I rigged myself a chariot to ride down in that hole
My wife, she did help me, she fed me down the ropes
And then I sank away from the surface of this world
With the last rope pulled tight, I had not reached the end
And in anger I swung there, down in that dark abyss
So I got out my knife, I told my wife goodbye
I cut loose from the ropes and fell on down that hole
And still I am there falling down in this evil pit
But until I hit the bottom, I won't believe it's bottomless
Spent last night watching the Baggies with a bottle or two of Bathams and a bag of the local butcher's pork scratchings. Perhaps I'm a bit more yamyam than I think....
