That explains it then - simiple !

Without bothering to go back and check - but I think it may have been me, a runner, who started using the phrase "scantily clad". As it was I had exactly enough kit to keep me comfortably warm - even when in full bonk in the horizontal hail on the top of Gt Whernside.
Andy A: I agree "Can we all do better next time" was perhaps a bit patronising!
Anyone received their tally yet? Just seen something on that "other social networking" site?
Yes, almost in mint condition....so many holes left to punch. :o
not yet but sounds imminent.........
I got mine back a couple of days ago. It's like a doily. :p
Talking of those tallies, I remember earlier on in the event in the sunshine, seeing what looked like occasional camera flashes emanating from runners far ahead. Although it was far too far away for me to see (we're talking a mile or more) I assumed it was their tallies blowing wildly in the wind and occasionally reflecting the sunlight straight back at me.
It certainly would not have been mine - for starters I was not far ahead of very many but more importantly I kept my tally secure inside my top to stop in annoying me by blowing around and also so it did not blow away - unlike someone who lost theirs and was DQ'd.
just got my tally card back all holey like a lace dolly :-)
Does the Harvey/BMC Mountain Map of the Dales cover the whole route or does it miss the Gragareth section?
Ta P
It misses Gragareth
Paulo,
Go for it mate! It's a fantastic achievement, I'm still smiling. I won't be back next year due to work. If you can commit to the training then do it. Good luck.
I was planning a BG attempt next year but my mate who has completed the BG fancied doing the Paddy Buckley, so we might be heading to Wales for a change.
Just to add a bit of variety to my training and a fresh focus, I am going to have a crack at triathlons next year, once I have mastered the art of front crawl.
Does any one know what the score is for entries to the Fellsman for 2013? Can't find any info on the website, in fact on most pages I just get a string of errors! Contemplating having a crack at this and wondering if i've already missed out, whether I need to be quick as a shot when they eventually do open, or whether it's a relaxed affair which doesn't fill up too quickly.
Any wisdom appreciated.
Ta
I hope you've not missed out, or I will have too! When I did it in 2010 I don't recall there being a big rush for places. Might have got more popular since though.
This year entries opened in new year and it filled up but not instantly. Well worth having a crack at, it was my first go at it this year and I'll be back for more next year
Entires open on 1st January. There was a bit of publicity last month when there was a very positive article in Runner'sWorld about it, so I'm not going to hang about with my entry.
Simon, me and Helen are having a go next year too - I'll be in there on 1st Jan. Mark R (Protodoc) and myself are planning to do it as a pair, he's using it as a build-up to his BGR in June. Helen and Emma D are doing it together also, Em has done the Fellsman before so she's in good hands. I expect they'll clobber us :)
hi martin sorry for late reply ive been working in wales. im also planning on doing it as a long training day for my BGR in june so if you and mark fancy a third member and a natter round let know it would be good to meet up i got round last year and hoping to be a bit fitter and improve on it
i missed the Fellsman this year.. it seems i chose a good year to miss it. waiting with anticipation for the applications to open for 2013 in the new year !!
I'm having a run out this year with my mate Dave C
Don't know. just don't know.
Well, it's either the Fellsman or the Woldsman :)
Woldsman makes sense.
Fellsman is Unfinished Business...
ill second jezz ,get it done tussock , woldsman is a nice route and on my doorstep but fellsman is right good day out so fellsman for me again this year . besides when does running hilly long days for make any rational sense , and im sure there'll be some toilets for us to cross paths again ;-)
Get on it! Just stay not injured this time? ;)
I'll be entering this year after the disappointment of being pulled off the hill last year when they (sensibly) called it off part way through. Although I have resolved to finish it next year even if this happens again - they can have my tally and I'll finish unsupported! Rah!
Entries usually start first week in January from memory.
Three of us went for a longish run, about 60 miles, starting 8.00pm Wednesday night last week from Ingleton area and stopping in the Grassington area 19 hours later at about 3.00pm Thursday, beginning with Ingleborough and finishing with Buckden Pike and Great Whernside with some other hills in between. Had to carry lots of food and water bottles had to be carried next to skin to keep liquid.
It was cold and a bit windy, but fun.
Now what's this Fellsman thing people keep talking about?
Fellsman 2013 entry form now available to download on the fellsman web site. Apparently postal entries will be accepted from 1st January 2013 with on-line entries open from 14th January 2013. See also the fellsman f/b page
