I'll ask Andy and get back to you
The only reason folk get worried about this race is because it tends to fill up before the start of next year - and that's because it opens too early!
The race doesn't happen until the end of March - please don't start the usual feeding frenzy again this year.
Thanks for reminding me - just sent my entry off!
Is it full yet?:)
I heard Dark Peak had opened entries early for every year up to 2041. This was in response to the race filling up so early.
According to their website, it's booked up until 2019 but you can get on the reserve list for 2016 onwards.
I've just sent my entry for 2022. I've also sent an entry for my youngest for 2023. He'll be 18 by then, and I'm confident he'll be up for a classic long fell race. ;)
Do people really plan this far ahead ?
Details will follow from the RO but 25th March is the race day. Entries will be available sometime in the new year.
Thanks Ian
Daz, '..Wilmslow Half Marathon...', are you sure you have the right thread. Did you want

For the price of the Wilmslow HM one could enter both TT and Trigger! ;)Now there is another perspective.
Or maybe the chance to win a £100 ASICS voucher has more worth that a lifesaving rescue by MRT?
Hmmm I know which one I'd prefer.;)
Brilliant, thanks. Plenty of time to sort the 'pass out' from the 'management'
Absolutely, being a finely tuned athletic running machine ;) I need the get the timing of my pre race carbohydrate loading (beer drinking) programme sorted :thumbup:Quote:

Hoping to do this race this coming year, never been in the dark peaks before and looking for a decent route description and/or map so I can recce it. No map via Pete Bland and none I can fine at Race Maps either, any suggestions gratefully received, cheers, Mark
Awaiting Stolly's (?) excellent map - I'll let him post it!
Mr. Nobthrob normally has maps knocking about on the day (if he gets up early enough) which are excellent. There's route descriptions, map, checkpoints and a couple of GPS traces on the race homepage which should satisfy you (check right to the bottom of the page, below the results).
The only major Route Choice is the down and up vs. around from Grindslow Knoll. I know it won Lloyd the race last year, but I also know that some more human beings lost a lot of places and time (Carl Edgell for one)
I'm intending to be there again this year. I suppose the target is 3hrs but that's going to take some excellent conditions (again), some excellent training over the next 2 months and a helicopter.
You could check out the Dark Peak website. Go to results and scroll down to find the skyline. There are some GPS tracks attached to the results page. try this link. GPS tracks at top of page. http://www.dpfr.org.uk/#results/race/2490
Glen
also lots of route discussion on the ES thread if you do a search
Thanks all, will take a look, think I'll be happy with 4 hours by the looks of it!
The race map is normally unavailable until about three days before the race: one of those charming quirks of the fellrunning world...
If you draw a blank elsewhere, PM me your address, I'm happy to send you a colour photocopy of mine (quality should be OK, we have a fancy machine at work).
What's wrong with OL map, grid ref's and a high light pen?
or
Go and recce the route and add the adjustments to the map.
or
If not just take the OL map in bumbag and do what the other 400 do. FOLLOW THE FRONT RUNNERS
does anyone know when entries are open for this?
Or join the facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Edale-...97204166994580

my route from 2011.
thanks stagger
or facebook.com/edaleskyline or @edaleskyline on twitter.
Really there is no need to email or phone me to ask (LOTS of people are doing this ATM) entries will be open in a couple of weeks. It will be well publicised, I am thinking of a web stream for the grand opening press conference! (not really!)
When entries do open it will be the worst kept secret in fell running history...
I'm just finalising the entry form, and information/requirements - especially after reading the scary 'DQ the cheats' thread a few months ago
Or the FRA website Calendar http://www.fellrunner.org.uk/races.php?id=1641
As well as the information contained in the printed Calendar the website Calendar contains races whose details were received too late to be included in the printed Calendar as well as updated information for races http://www.fellrunner.org.uk/races.php?updates
I thought I'd be kind and let you know that entries for the 2012 Edale Skyline will open on Thursday 12th January at midday.
Download a form at the skyline pages of www.dpfr.org.uk and don’t worry if you can’t access the dpfr website today as is being ’spring cleaned!’
Thought I'd give this a bump for evening viewers of the forum...
At the risk of repeating myself - you find that it is there on Thursday 12th of Jan at about noon.
I've planned it for then as John the webmaster is having a tidy up of the site and it has been a bit unreliable over the last few days. He works very hard to maintain the dpfr website and I didn't want to put him under additional pressure to 'fix' it - he does a great job on an entirely voluntary basis.
this has meant that I've not been able to update the website for the time being, but thought I'd let people know through here and facebook.com/edaleskyline and @edaleskyline what is happening. there is plenty of time to get your entries in...
the form and race info and requirements have been updated so all entries will need to be on this year form.
i Hope you're being a wag Geoff ;) Here
Entry form now up on the DP site, But I won't post mine until after Midday :)
This link should work if not DP site-Skyline- Down load form
some sensible editions this year allowing substitutions and having a waiting list. No excuse for not getting in.
Bargain Price of £7 which I'm sure will include one of Kev's excellent stews.
The race is indeed a bargain but I'll point out now that parking is likely to be expensive... and possibly more expensive for single occupancy cars. I hope to balance this by charging full cars very little (or maybe nothing) but need to work out the costings for this.
the Parish Council own the station car park which we hire and use this to generate income for local charities so basically the car park money is going straight to them. If you car share (as we should all do anyway) it will still leave your race day spending at bargain levels.
Entry form downloaded, yep. Pass out from Mrs sbrt, granted. Stamp, got one. Envelopes ......envelopes ..... we have run out of envelopes ........nooooooooooh!:boohoo:
