Oh uh! NOT good... Hope you succeed...
I did my first ever 'proper' cyclocross race today and my front mech has stopped working... I rode over half of it on my little ring! Having a look at it tomorrow, think it has just been clogged up with mud, but I did think what if I break my bike, as I only have the one...
Really hope you get it sorted!!!
Ashfieldwheelers had graeme obree the other night.Brilliant night, met him, asked 3 questions and he gave me a ten minute chat. Quality guy. I left inspired
Wheezing Donkey, no the Qoroz crosser never materialised... tad pissed off about that, as the frame was built for me, thenthis guy from JD cycles does a runner with it... Apparently, he is now racing 3 peaks on it... He better not get anywhere near me!!!
Front mech still not working properly... It shifts ok onto the 3 rings now, but the chain is rubbing in both the little and big ring (it is a triple) and I can't seem to get it to move out enough to stop rubbing... Now dowsed in WD40 overnight, in the hope that that loosens things up... If not, I will be riding in the middle ring only on Sunday :(
you mean the adjustment screws are stuck ?
To adust the front mech
drop the chain onto the small chainring ( now no tension on the mech) cable is loose.
Then make sure the mech is correct height and is in line with chainring. To do that loosen the allen key n the braze on bracket align and tighten.
I normally have about 2mm between chain and underside of mech.
Then you can adjust the limit screws.
But this will be nigh on impossible without the bike in a workstand hann.
Hann not stating the obvious but before you start adjusting just drop it in the small chainring so the cable is loose. Loosen the allen key thats holding the cable on the front mech. Pull the cable tighter with some long nose pliers and re tighten the cable.
id say your cable has stretched a bit.
that should solve it.
This is usually the problem if its not shifting far enough
Daz, it is in the right place, it just seems to have too narrow a range of movement, if that makes sense? I am thinking of putting a new cable in, that may help?
