Two cracking lads at the front had us doing 17's & 18's into the teeth of a W wind as we headed through Pilling and down to Hambleton. After 5 miles with them, they were heading for home via Shard Bridge, I settled for exploring the loops of lanes around Hambleton then went via Preesall to the Knott End Cafe, at the top of the ferry slip way. Headed home via Pilling Lane, Pilling, Winmarleigh and Forton (a brew at a clubmate's with 51.5 miles on the 'puter!). Usually only do 25 - 30 miles but was wanting to get a steady 50 in before the clocks go back.
A lot of the narrower lanes were very muddy ( harvesting season ). The Ti Sportive, despite having the mudguards fitted, looks like it's just finished Paris - Roubaix!
Emma, have a good one. I'm down for helping Readey Boyo; picking up some building materials in the van... Ian x
