I'm staying very quiet
text-book day today!
splendid forumite turnout
nice to chat with Millipede on the way round - I'm more used to a quiet time of it near the back!
bog-monster got me over the knee, and I thought I was going in never to be seen again
nice bracing wind especially along the side of White Holme reser - weird to see the water all choppy as it was frozen solid when I recced it!
didn't quite manage last place - 93rd/97 - thought I would struggle to get round in under 2:15, so quite pleased to clock 2:11-something :D
weekend off for me next week - might do some flat tarmac Mile reps
but soon be THE RELAY
Found this really tough yesterday, not run 12 mile before so just glad I made it. Trainer came off in the bog at the top so had to stop and fish around for it which hasn't pleased me Forerunner at all.
Good race though and thanks to the organisers.
Really enjoyed the race yesterday. I'd done little bits of the course on training runs in the past but never put it all together, I think it might become a regular "tempo" run.
I'm not used to running on the flat!! Legs are sore today. Quite pleased with a time just over 1.40 considering I'd been out and done 12 hilly miles on Saturday as well.
Struggled to warm up afterwards...and I shivered in the car all the way back to Hebden Bridge!
My quads are wrecked today. The walk from the bus station to uni took alot longer than usual!
I think everyone got cold and struggled to warm up yesturday. When i crossed the finish line and started to take my number off the sun was roasting me. But i soon cooled down and got cold - Need to get a big thick coat like Merry. ;)
I like the way Emmi intorduced me to you. "This is Al, famous for his spelling:rolleyes: (something along those lines anyway)
Yes Al, that was me. The giveaway is the blue ribbon tied my bumbag with 'Tussockface' written on it. The fact that you didn't notice it proves you weren't staring at my bum, which is good to know.
You're right about needing nerve to approach people you think might be on the forum. If you stroll up to someone and remark 'Excuse me, but are you by any chance AlligatorShoes?' (or whatever), and they aren't, they really do think you're mad. At least, that's what they think after they've gone through the initial (and arguably even more awkward stage) of assuming they've misheard you and asking you to repeat what you just said. I speak from experience...
