Interesting that Remainers are reluctant to call out bull-shitters on their own side.

I think the 2nd referendum is a pipe dream.

I think another General Election is more likely though.

May is not going to get anything through.

If she fails, she falls.

What will be key is who leads the Tories in to it.

I too think the chances of a second referendum are slim but, ironically, it’s probably the best chance of the tories staying together as a party. The current deal Theresa May is so keen on will never get anywhere, if there was a no deal Brexit all of her more sensible MPs will leave, if there was a soft Brexit (the deal that parliament would easily vote for), all of the ultra right wing nut job brexiteers would leave. And the stupid hanging on, last chance saloon gambling with everyone’s lively hood, waiting for the EU to cave in on the backstop agreement is singularly the most pathetic negotiating stance ever and a whopping number of voters in the future will never forgive the tories.

So... if Theresa May can somehow be seen to have tried everything else first, giving the option to the public of a much more informed referendum suddenly becomes the only way forward still left on the table

Pretty much no chance of another referendum being better informed by any significant margin. Even by those thinking they’ve not been duped by the corrupt are still just buying into whatever confirms their bias.

Then again, it doesn’t need much movement.

Brexiteers do exactly the same on a regular basis. Neither camp is innocent of that little behaviour.

You're not the first I've heard that from. A chap I know said he was so disgusted with the way Brexit was being handled, if he had to vote again he'd change his vote to leave. There was also a politician on Newsnight some weeks ago who said the same.

Maybe not a great representation of the population but obviously a definite trend

That's interesting, because my disgust with the way Brexit is being handled has made me go the opposite way. After the referendum result, I was disappointed but thought, "Never mind, I'm sure we'll muddle through and it won't be a disaster". Now that the politicians seem determined to make sure that it is a disaster, I'm really resenting the Brexiteers in the Tory party who kicked the whole thing off.

Phew, that’s one vote each. It’s just how the other 47 million would vote now, given a chance....
