I'm going to try some non-fell night running later. It'll be my first attempt a la head torch. I think I'll try a route I'm familiar with to start off at least.

Went out last night with lad on CVFR Halloween run, he loved it. More headtorch runs with him planned. Doesn't seem to slow him down, same can't be said for me:(

A good point, however I think for most people it is a play off between the heavy impact of the roads on your joints and the quality of an available decent road route at night. Seeing as though most people train in the evening this is an issue during the winter for those who train frequently during the week. Personally I try and complete 70% of my milage off road.

There's also the simple fact that we fell run because we enjoy it, not just for training benefit. You can't have nights like we had last night on the roads.
